Re: Return Trains Wow! Thanks so much. That website is EXTREMELY helpful. I should have just made all my seat reservations on there.
Re: Return Trains There's an English version http://www.db.de/site/bahn/en/start.html Dates and times are European. June 17th, 2006 at 11:30 PM would be entered as 17.06.06 at 23:30
Re: Return Trains Yeah but how do I purchase reservations without buying a ticket, I already have the germany-benelux pass
Re: Return Trains i had the same question since i also have a germany-benelux pass. but i figured it out. just proceed with the checkout as normal. there is a step during the checkout process where you can indicate if you want tickets or just seat reservations. just select seat reservations and you're good to go.
Just a heads up for fellow BSers. I got the same email and passed along my information to them. I have no doubt they are real but I just had to close my account and file fraud charges as my cc was hit up with charges from Holland that I had no idea about. I would recommend checking your account if you just did business with DB just to make sure. I have no concrete proof but this was the most likely target for my number to have been taken.
One Thing I like about Detsche Bahn's website is you can print personal timetables into a variety of formats, including PDF here: http://persoenlicherfahrplan.bahn.de/bin/pf/query-p2w.exe/en? I saved the PDF files for all the match days and printed them so I always have a train schedule with me.
Yeah, it looks like trains out of Gelsenkirchen after US-Czech are also filling up. Had to accept 2nd class seats (the horror!) back to Cologne that night. Just a gentle suggestion that if you want to sit on your trip back after games you might want to reserve now.
If you do some digging, you can also order a CD-ROM with the entire Deutsche Bahn timetable (including the additional trains and service for the WC) that you can download to your PalmPilot or PDA: You can also save your individual personal timetables as files for your PDA. The Magpie
all my reservations, sans one, have been for first class. i really have no idea - but what is the difference on these trains between first and second class?
Reservations, be they first or second class, guarantee you a seat. First class seats are bigger than second class seats.
Also keep in mind that if you have a second-class ticket you can't make a reservation in first class that's valid (though if you have a first-class ticket you can make a valid reservation in second class).
If you have a 2nd class ticket or rail pass, you can make seat reservations for 2nd Class only. If you have a 1st class ticket or rail pass, you can make seat reservations for 1st or 2nd Class. Clear enough? The Magpie
This is correct. A twist to that is that if you reserve for 2nd class you CAN ride 1st class but must pay the difference in price on the spot. At least this is the way I understand it. You can upgrade if available... for a smaller Kraftwerkian fee.
Gen Soc, I also sent our info via that e-mail. Over a month ago, my credit card was charged, but I have yet to receive the tickets. More disturbing was the fact that someone from db called and asked if I still wanted tickets? I told them I had purchased them, but not yet received them--he was unable to find my order! He searched for quite sometime, and said he would have his "cheif" call me back, that was about two weeks ago--still no word. The charge on my credit card certainly looks legit and I have had nothing else suspicious show up.
Maggie: You seem to be the local expert on rail travel. I'm staying with friends in Enschede, Netherlands, about 55 miles north of Gelsenkirchen. While I think I may have some driving options down A31, I was wondering what my rail options might be on game day? Care to assist? Thanks, Alan
If there are any questions please contact our Online-Service (phone: +49 1805 10 11 11, 12 ct/Min. within Germany, daily between 07:30 am and 09:00 pm, fax: + 49 69 47 899 699, e-mail to: fahrkartenservice@bahn.de). Is that the correct info to contact the DB? That would help me figure out whether this was legit or a scam. Thanks.
