Some games are more important that others, and there's no doubt which one was the biggie this time. The 18 game winless slide is over, and those of us who foresaw it clobbered the field. Biggest of the winners is Flashman, who's bold bet of 49 landed him Play of the Week and also pretty much sewed up the Weekly Cup, and a 17 spot jump to the first division. Second goes to the long-suffering PCrsl who's loyalty was finally rewarded. (Ironically he only missed the Weekly Cup by not betting enough on RSL). He's up a massive 17 spots to #29. Bulajacket, like the previous two, got every game right. He winds up in third. (A bet of 1 is not really looking for a blowout), and is up 9 spots to #6. 4th goes to Greywacke who landed a money ball in NER, avoided the Texas tie, and only bet 67 on LAG. He cracks the top 10, up three spots. Rounding out the top five is rookie matzek73, who's back in div 1 after a 9 spot surge. Big props go to paulo who lands an outstanding 57 in his first outing, despite not having access to his lowest 33 picks. Remarkably he debuts in the middle of div 2. veteran tab5g and rpi-fan make runs at the top with scores in the 80's. Quango and KCWiz inch up the table with positive scores and are now #1 and #2 overall. Crewbasher and Saeyddthe also crack d1, while AMERICANS SC blasts into D2 with an 83, joined by firefan2001 and OGx3. Also the Remaining Bets has me using bet 29 but I have not used this. I am not that good at performance but I think. It lowers **** Of course, if I did not make mistake. Anyhow I hit RSL last year and this year team comes through. Both times I did not have great faith but resiliency pays off.
I must say, the Perf simply amazes me. I hit all my games, low bets on the draws, and only missed the LA game with a 148 point bet. Before that bet my weekly perf was 131, after it was 13.
Well, this was a strange week... only four participants with IK scores, and this week's Inverse Karma Award winner did so in a blowout... nearly 200 points higher than the runner-up. It all came down to the amount you lost on the LA-RSL pick (and let's face it, most of you lost on that one), but also how well you picked the rest of the matches. As BenC said, he picked all the other matches correctly, but got himself IK for losing a moneyball on the Gals. The winner of this week's "Steve Sampson will be bagging my groceries on Thursday" edition of the Inverse Karma Award is burnfan00, who lost a decent bet on LA, but was 3-1-2 on the other picks, his only other loss being a low-roll on KC. Somehow, even though he had close to -50 in perf, he still managed to sneak up the table 5 spots for a very good IK score of 248.25. Congrats, burnfan00, and as always, here's hoping you can keep giving the fates a Swirlie next week. Runners-up: Northside Rovers: 56.91 alf: 29.52 BenC1357: 13.69 And just to add one more thing, upon a closer look at the standings, next week's IK race oughta be a doozy. Several players are separated by a minimal amount of points (KCWiz & jlo, and DCUsa & Saeyddthe, for example). The big issue will be taking place right in the middle of D2, however, as the 26-30 spots are separated by just 6 points. Best of luck, folks, and watch your backs.
Yeah, whiffing on a 150 is a big deal. If I'd bet 1 on that game I'd have been top 5 instead of dead center. It should be noted though that those who finished with higher perf than us also for the most part had higher rate of return. Perf is pretty demanding. Just staying in positive territory is a big accomplishment. Next year we might want to consider setting the expected value for 192 to 80% like it was originally intended, instead of 150 being 80%. (If people like having more positive scores.)
You used 26 in week 6, and 23, 24, and 25 in week 5. Thus, when you bet 26, 27, and 28 in week 7, the autoscorer bumped them up one each to avoid reuse. Time to defrost that extra brain.
Daggumit! I am 0-2 on that but I did check it three times and it missed. I am squared away now. I must have forgot to mark it off. I carry the Bet Table on a square piece of paper in wallet. I feel bad now and should stop typing in the dark....
