To all the naysayers that said Dallas attendance was going to suck this year -- how do you explain 14.5K on a Wednesday? Maybe Hitch really is the genius we expected him to be.

I guess people are willing to drive to Frisco after all, huh?

Hoops rule. The cannon should be named 'Ol Whistler'.

    Come and Take it!

BIS was lower for sure. Plus the FO sent all (??) STH comp tickets to the game to juice the attendence.
Still a fun night except for that red card. No confetti or smoke bombs though which was missed.

Yeah its a great number and all. But if only half of them actually show up then what has actually been accomplished?

For a weekday game - yes its a good number for tickets distributed.

Every season ticket holder received 4 free tickets to the game. Hopefully some of recipients of the freebies will come back again.

Congrats on the attendance for a Wednesday night game!

You guys deserve some good atmosphere in such a beautiful stadium.

Yeah, what is up with that? They were sorely missed. If we need to donate to a fund, let me know.

What would people guess? Actually 8K there? The freebies were definately in the 14.5 number.

One comment: the "library" was really into it tonight. They clapped when good things happened, even good tackles, and were on the ref the entire night. Really well done by them. More like the middle section of an EPL game, where the people don't sing, but are still into the game.

The Library was rockin' last night - I was noticing that all game. It gave me warm fuzzies.

No smoke last night was a one-off; don't worry. I believe I might've overheard that it will return, but that is something I can neither confirm nor deny. Also, I believe MLS is the source of the anti-smoke crackdown across the league, though there's more smoke this year (around the league) than any other recent year, and I love it.

I believe the attendance was in the 10,000 range. What makes having a SSS so enticing is all the additional revenue for HSG. Even though tickets were distributed at less than face value, HSG made up for it with the additional ancillary revenues.

Not only are the attendance numbers better but also revenues are increased. IMHO, Dallas will be the most profitable franchise this year. As for being the best team, that remains to be seen. Although we are off to a good start.

Then they might consider having the commentators for MLS games refrain from the "That smoke looks awesome! And how about those flares!? Very nice. Feels like the San Siro in here!" discussion that seems to ensue whenever the tv shows smoke or flares.

I hope the same happens when Dallas plays Red Bull on a similar day.

    We will see.

It was a full 20 oz. Considering a 12 oz. Killian's is 6.00, the pricing (though insanely high) is at least in line with the increased size and quality over said Irish Red.

I am going to guess that they sent them to every season ticket account.
And I am going to assume that each account has approximately two season tickets per account. Some accounts have more than that, but remember some have less than 1.
So if each account had an average of 6 (2 ST and 4 freebies) tickets for last night's match, than am I to believe that FC Dallas has sold a little over 2400 season tickets?

I have two tickets and got 4 freebies last night. I am going to guess that they gave 2 tickets per seat?

    2x+x = 15000.

That would put you at 5K season tickets, if everyone there last night was a result of a season ticket holder. So 4K would probably be a better estimate.

Also, the 4K I think would be actual full season ticket holders, not full-season equivelants. The partial season ticket people I don't think got free tickets? I was under the impression that the full season equivelant number was between 5 and 7K, and that is usually the number advertised by a club.

They sent out 4 tickets per season ticket holder account, not per season ticket holder seats. In other words, a season ticket holder with 3 seats and one with two seats both got the same number of freebies (4). Re-work your math from that premise.

I really enjoyed my first (live and in person) FCD game last nite! I had a blast even if I was freezing at first. (Forgot about someone mentioning at one time about the wind in PHP.) I am looking forward to the reserve game on Saturday. See ya there!:D

If anybody's interested, there's an excellent discussion going on here https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8379019#post8379019

with Peter Wilt contributing some rather in-depth commentary on the issues of attendandance, front offices, sales staff, etc. (PW is on the later pages)

He appears to think very highly of our own GM.

Also this (as I nod to our own Drum'r), "Ticket sales execs are the lifeblood of the organization."
