So what...I'm calling you out for telling someone not to take things so seriously. You were the sensitive one when you posted your request on the "Starting Threads" sticky. Why get bent out of shape by someone calling names on an internet board? I just think it's comical that you, of all posters, are telling someone to "be easy". IMO, you're one of the most sensitive on this board. And it's not "your biz" when you post on a public message board....but no problem, I'll stay out of it....don't want to get your panties in a bunch.

    Re: Taylor Twellman an alternate?

The total production of Ching, Johnson and Wolff COMBINED this year for the US is two goals. 50% of that of Twellman.

I understand taking the risk on Ching, but Wolff has had no better form in MLS than Twellman and has been much worse for the US. It seems quite likely we will play a 4-5-1. If that's the case, is experience really enough to take Wolff, who has shown nothing recently, over Twellman, who has at least shown something?

If we assume McBride is the lone starter, Johnson, Ching and Twellman all offer something different off the bench. My question is what does Wolff offer that Johnson doesn't (other than experience)? I just don't see the logic in taking Wolff.

On a side note, 83% of Ching's stats came against the Crapids this season. Everyone said Twellman scored against poor opponents, but I'm not sure any of them (with the exception of maybe Norway) were as bad as the Crapids' D.

    Flame away.

For the last time, HE WASN't calling him a NAME, goodness, read the posts, and I wasn't calling anyone . Stop trying to pick stupid fights, it's pointless, it doesn't help me and it doesn't help you, why are you challenging me, there is no challenge to anyway.

Calling someone a name is to insult them, they like to be called "Twellman haters" because they think Twellman sucks, but since you are all in the "Kool-Aid" and don't know what's going on, step off and stop trying to put dumb fights over a dumb thing, why bring if it up if you don't have interest in it in the first place. Read first and understand what's going on fully and then say something relevant for both of us. And yes, "Be Easy".

The 4-5-1 theory comes from the "Technicos" thread. Arena's interview on that thread indicated he planned for a 4-5-1. This roster selection would support that.

Twellman sucks....end of story.....Ching produced in clutch situations in qualifying and is probably a cooler guy in the locker room.... Plus Twellman likes to watch Brokeback Mountain in his off time. I am so glad Twellman is not on this team ......I cant describe how happy it's made me.

See....sensitive. And I read the posts. I was never responding to his posts or what he intended by his posts...I'm talking about your sensitive behind because I think it's comical that you're telling someone to "be easy" or "not take things so seriously" (for whatever reason) when you were whining and crying the other day. I guess you turned over a new leaf with your "Be Easy" slogan.

I must say, after being in San Francisco that night against Japan . . . I am borderline appalled that Twellman isn't on this team. I honestly don't think he could've done anything more during the winter camp.

It seems to me that he was never going to be on this team.

He did specifically mention in the interview as they unveiled the roster that Ching has been scoring in MLS didn't he?

    Re: Taylor Twellman an alternate?

    Let's get the dictionary out
and before we do that, it's called not called "sensitive", it caled "depending yourself form people who don't know what they are talking about"

And you calling me sensitive, well then, why are you responding then about my comments, maybe that's more sensitive and hypocritcal on your point since you didn't know what was going on in the first place (in addition, your desire to keep this thing dragging on in a pointless manner, that's real sensitive on your part). And how can you gauge whose sensitive on an Internet chat board, hmm, I really didnn't know that Internet messages boards gauge human emotions now, really, that's a wonderful invention, isn't is:rolleyes: .

But to the definition: Sensitive- (adjective) Quick to detect or be affected by slight changes or appreciating the feelings of others.

Yup, just so you know how to use that word next time in a proper manner. We good now? ;)

I like Ching over TT too, but those who are saying Twellman sucks are being ridiculous. Twellman and Ching are closely matched by almost any measure. Bruce just happened to pick Ching.

Lol, Arena just doesn't like him on the team, Wynalda was right all a long, circa 2003 and 2004. Arena just doesn't see him as a fit as compared to Ching.

    Listen to the podcast...

Didn't see the ESPN thing but in the conference call he specifically said that it WASN'T MLS play that put him on the team. It was how he fits in with the NT and the important goals he scored in WCQ.

Wait a second, you are hoping for injuries to players on the roster because Twellman didn't make it?

    What an a$$hole!

    Re: Taylor Twellman an alternate?

Why is it that every time we have a discussion about any forward's lack of scoring, either at the club level or internationally, the "They are getting no service" card gets played early and often.

The job of a forward is to score goals or create goals and getting service is only one way that happens. It also happens when the forward does something creative with the ball or serves others or actually plays defense after the defense wins the ball.

So forwards that are not scoring and not creating goals are not doing their job even if the service is less than stellar.

Of course if the team is not getting the ball to the forwards at all then that is a valid excuse but a forward that is getting touches and not producing anything is at least as at fault as any of the teammates or even coaches.

Unfortunately, the US has only one forward that currently is producing at all when the service is lacking and that is McHead and his production is only OK at this time.

The remainder of the forwards are basically Hobson’s choice and any three of the 5 or 6 available would be equally good, or bad, depending more on luck that any real difference of quality.

The forwards chosen could fail to score at all in the WC or they could go on a tear and get 2 or 3 each. It is impossible to say since none have shown any ability recently to score against quality defense.

Actually, with this set of forwards, (or even any of the others) I expect, if we do well, the mids and even the defense will outscore the forwards. The most we can expect is that the forwards create the goals for the rest of the team and get lots of assists. Which is one of the jobs of the forwards anyway.

    My question:

Do the alternates go to the May 10 Cary, NC camp with the rest of the (real) players?

    Re: Taylor Twellman an alternate?

Sounds like he gave more detail in the conference call, maybe some clarification. I only saw the ESPN thing, and thought he said something about MLS. I remember it sticking out, because it made it sound like Ching made the roster from scoring a bunch of goals one game early in the MLS season.

    Anyway.
