Marcus makes the first team.. http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=381370 No surprize here... http://www.givemefootball.com/display.cfm?article=8213&type=1
Convey did get the PFA Fan Poll Player of the Month once this year.. I'm sure he must have received some other honors this year too..
The team in total (for those not wanting to go to the links: Championship Team of the Year: Marcus Hahnemann (Reading), Gary Kelly (Leeds), Ibrahima Sonko (Reading), Joleon Lescott (Wolves), Nicky Shorey (Reading), Steve Sidwell (Reading), Ashley Young (Watford), Phil Jagielka (Sheffield United), Jason Koumas (Cardiff), Marlon King (Watford), Kevin Doyle (Reading) Five Reading players, three of the back five.
BC should definetely have been in there. I would have put Convey in instead of Sidwell, and replaced Sidwell with another central midfielder.
But Sidwell isn't really the one that kept Convey out of the team. What I'm suprised at more is that Little didnt' make the team.
I'd agree with the reading players on the PFA team, but I'm kind of shocked they left off Convey and Little. And Harper. And kitson. And Murty (captain after all) and Ingamarrson. And I'd think the manager would be, uhm....Coppell.
And G. Murty (rb) for Reading got a callup for Scotland in their kirin cup effort. Honors galore heading towards the reading players...
You, and the guy that wrote the soccernet article saying Meola should go to Germany, are the only people I've heard with that opinion.
Reading's backline has been flawless this whole season and has kept the pressure off Marcus as much as possible. But when the backline did collapse, Marcus ate up everything that was thrown his way. It would of been easy to sleep back there but he didn't and he didn't rest on the security of his defenders. He kept them in some matches and proved to be the general back there.
I think some of you need a sense of humor. The exact use of the word "adequate" should have been a dead give away. The only way Meola goes to Germany is if he pays his own way. There is no way anyone on this board, except possibly Tony's brother, thinks Meola deserves to be on the squad. Jamaica was pure ceremony from BA. Meola's not even the best keeper in MLS.
