Burciaga adds so much to the attack though. Just as Groenwald does. Shavar has done extremely well so far in 3 games but I see him coming off hte bench on sunday. In fact, with Garcia and Conrad in the middle I think you'll see Burciaga and Groenwald attacking even more.
Yeah, well, the collapse of the Atlantic thermohaline circulation (the "conveyor belt" current that keeps England reasonably temperate, among other things) should just about show them what's what.
I'll tell you what - this is going to be a tough game. We will get our chances at goals and maybe get 1 or 2. But our defense better stiffen up a bit and quit making bonehead mistakes because with the Wiz speed up front, we will get punished. Clarence G-Goodson better be focused because he will get eaten up. I also think EJ will be out for a bit of payback and I have a feeling Rhine and G-Goodson are going to be the ones bending over. When EJ is feeling it - it means trouble and this may be one of the few MLS games he feels it all season. I am also happy to announce that myself and the usual supsects will be at the game. Finally. A top of the tables clash like this is not to be missed. Bring it on Wiz. Bo - you thought Scott Garlick had a rough time last game here? He used to play for us.
I thought that the new party line was that it was happening, but it was naturally-occuring and not man's fault.
Took you long enough. He'll remember many of us from OKC when these two teams played in the Saturn Waste of Cup.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!! ... don't know how optimistic I'm feeling about this one. We barely got by both Chicago and RSL, and in the one game we legitimately deserve to win? Goodson has the brain fart of all brain farts and we give up two points. I'm gonna keep it positive and say 2-2 tie. Mina and Coop for FCD, GAM and Sasha Victorine (simply because he is on my fantasy team) for KC.
This is known around these parts as "Sprawl". It's the season that spans from summer to summer and replaces what used to be Spring and Fall. Winter is a rumour taken on faith by Scientologists. -bs
There were thunderstorms with hail at 48 degrees fahrenheit this february. At 77 degrees north latitude in Nunavut. We're gonna need a sunshield at the Hut by 2010 for day games. -bs
Fine, he can platoon with Willo if it makes everyone feel good. I like Simo as much as the next guy, but with Willo and Mulrooney in there, his defensive skills aren't needed as much and he brings ZERO to the attack. Plus, we all know he can't go the whole season anymore.
Watching my tivo'd KC - NE game right now. I think the back line will be Garcia - Conrad - Thomas - Burciaga. Groenwald wasn't nearly as effective against NE as he had been in the prior two games, and Thomas was pretty solid. KC has gotten very solid results, but their 3 forwards are having problems figuring out how to combine, similar to what we did last year. They have a lot of finishers, but they don't have that creative midfielder to provide good service. They rely on Arnaud or Wolff to come back into the midfield and receive the ball, turn, and run at people, are open space. None of the forward are on the same page and don't pass all that well. The key to defending them is to not allow them to receive the ball in space. You have to follow the forwards outside when they float out there, and you have to follow them back into the midfield when they check back for it. When attacking KC, their back line is very, very good. They snuffed out the NE attack (part of that is because NE continues to play a three man attack with noone providing service from the midfield and they like to try to pair Noonan and Twellman up top, which gives you absolutely zero speed. Zero speed and a large gap between the forwards and the two holding mids means you aren't going to get to the long balls that are inevitable). Coopers mobility will give them fits, though. They like to stay in the middle and defend against the cross. The 3 man KC midfield osolates between the three sucking to the middle of the field and then playing some three wide. The key is recognizing what they are doing at the time. When they suck in, you can catch the outside defenders sneaking up and play it wide into space. If they spread out, you have to go right up the gut. Crossing the ball doesn't do much against KC. You have to get the ball wide, spread things out, then either beat the guy to the line and send a ball in once a central defender comes over to help, or get the ball at the 18 and let someone fire a long shot. If FCD are going to be successful in this match, AA and ROB will need to be aggressive and take people on, and Cooper and Wilson have to be aggressive and take long shots.
Might want to check out what Michael Crichton says as he, like me, still remembers the alarm from the late 70's when the next ice age was supposedly coming back. "Aliens Cause Global Warming" http://www.crichton-official.com/speeches/speeches_quote04.html
Wicked wounded-duck floater at the Bowling Alley. Brilliant. But I will concede to gator, if Willo starts in the habit of poaching one every time out, then there is a case to be made. That said I still don't think Willo's bag of tricks is very large, at least not large enough to push a fit Simo to the bench. -bs
That's a great read. I only ask you this: with irrefutable visual evidence that half, ONE HALF, of the polar ice cap is gone, and the irrefutable fact that HUMAN BEINGS have, in the preceding 100 years, removed 8 trillion pounds of petrocarbons from _Underneath_ the earth's surface and, after transmutation in to gaseous form for economic purposes, DUMPED 6 trillion pounds of gaseous waste product in to an atmosphere that is only 50 miles thick, you'd have to say that the Aliens are slacking off bigtime. They should have nuked us by now out of spite for trashing the planet. Especially when enough solar energy hits the planet every day to allow the entire human race to live with free energy at an upper-class standard of living. If we so chose. If I were to write my version of Crichton's novella, it would be titled: "Metering Corporations symbiotically require Global Warming". -bs
