I have tickets for this game.

I've never been to Germany and am interested in any information regarding getting around Nuremburg, sightseeing, partying with other US fans, etc.

We will also be at the game, but I was told that it might be better to stay in munich and take the train (1 - 1 1/2 hours away) It will go to a station walking distance to the stadium. Munich should be more fun.

We have hotel rooms for about a week in Nuremburg. We should have time to visit a couple of other cities. Munich is a definite possibility.

That's pretty much exactly my plan as well. I'll be in Berlin from the 18th-21st, then train to Nuremberg

I'll be staying with a friend outside of Kaiserslautern from the 17-19, going to T&T v Paraguay, then taking the train to Erlangen. It's a university town about 15 km (10 miles) outside of Nuremberg.

Hotels in Nuremberg were either non-existant or way expensive, but I found this place for half the price of the cheapest Nuremberg room!! Plus, free shuttles to the game.

As far as the "place to be", Nuremberg is gonna have it goin on! Supposedly the largest of the FIFA Fan Zones. Beer and wine festivals, live entertainment, plenty of live telecast T.V.'s, and mini-pitches to play pick up games. Sounds fun to me!

I am part of a group of approx 16 (3 families of 4 plus several friends) who will be traveling from Frankfurt to Nuremberg that afternoon, then staying in Nuremberg after the match. Several of us are getting together soon with a buddy who lives in nuremberg and who lined up the hotels, etc. We'll likely know more in a week or two re: where to hang out. I definitely suggest that someone post info or coordinate where US supporters can gather before an/or after the match.

    Most Definitely!!
It should be a great time. Especially since, I personally feel, that the standings are going to be so that the outcome of this game will decide if we get second in the group or not :)
What the hell am I saying?!?! We're commin' in 1st!!!!!

We'll be ready for some serious partying after the game.

Best way (and cheapest) to get to Nuremburg from the US is to fly to London and take a transfer from London to Altenburg with Ryanair. Then train it to Nuremburg. Additional cost to your ticket from the US about $100.

I am going to a England game in Nuremburg and just sorted out my travel yesterday.

Nuremburg has a large and impressive walled "old town" area. Very picturesque in a picture postcard kind of way.

The stadium is a 10 minute train ride from the central station. For those with a sense of history, directory next door to the stadium is the Nazi parade ground of grainy newsreel fame. The terraces themselves are now grassed over, but the instantly recognisible main stage with podium is still there as a well-preserved lump of tiered concrete.
A couple of hundred metres away, across a small lake, is the large and previously useless nazi congress hall, which now houses the excellent anti-nazi museum.

I am still trying to secure tickets to this match but should I do I may be able to call gasthauses and/or some local pubs and find a terrace to have a BigSoccer pregame.
