    agreed.

however, if a viewer doesn't require access to every MLS match DK has, and they are already purchasing the sports pack for other reasons beyond soccer, it is possible to get a handful of games during the season in non-blacked-out replays with DirecTV's sports pack.

of course DK is a great deal, and everyone with access to it should get it.

it will be interesting to see the fees associated with the mlsnet streams this season and beyond.

This is true. More or less. ESPN's Sports Center and TSN's Sports Centre share graphics and content occassionally. ESPN Sunday night baseball is on TSN, as is the Sunday NFL game and Prime Time and the Champions League and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

However, ESPNs World Baseball Classic coverage was on Sportsnet. The Score shows US college football and basketball from ESPN.

We get some ESPN programming, but we don't get the channel(s). And we definitely don't get anything that's not major programming.

    cheers,
    hobbes

because this is the United States, and they call themselves "America's Soccer Channel".I suppose they could call themselves" Murdoch Properties" and it would be less offensive.
Having America's Soccer channel unwilling to pay for America's D1 league strikes me as unacceptable.
Old view of Murdoch- nasty Old bastard, but supported US Soccer.
    New view-nasty Old bastard

Me personally since every single Revs games is broadcast, I find no need for DK, since I go to 16 home games and 4 or 5 road games. I had DK the last 2 years on Comcast before I got Direct TV. I think I watched like 3 games, so it was a waste of money for me.

But at the same time, it's their business to run, not ours. So, it's their choice to make, not ours.

New Coke didn't work out, so Coca-Cola went back to classic.

New FSC (without MLS matches) could turn out to be a bad move for their business (i.e. fewer subscribers - if they care about that), and maybe FSC will return to it's formula that had recently included MLS during the previous 3 seasons.

Good point! In my view both sides are right now trying to figure out what the appropriate rights fee will be. In other words they are negotiating. It's as simple as that. MLS is no longer willing to give it's product away. WHICH IS A GOOD THING! And Fox Soccer Channel has not come to grips with the fact that they will now have to pay for something they have been getting for free. But make no mistake. This will get done. MLS has NOT disappeared from FSC forever.

P.S. Fox News and Fox Talk Channel disappeared from Sirius Satellite Radio for a couple of months this year. When a bunch of subscribers complained Sirius was able to come to an agreement with Fox and now the two channels are back on Sirius......

Wihtout steering this thread too far off course, could someone who regularly gets the DK package tell me more about it? Do teams have their own channels? Are the matches constantly being changed per channel? Does the show run like PPV where it suddenly comes on at the start of the game or time slot and cuts off? Are there any other benefits other than catching all your teams games (granted that's all the "benefits" I need)

CSN in our area did an outsanding job IMO of covering DC. We would miss maybe 3 matches a year and 1 or 2 of those would be on FSC. I won't go into my opinion on the FSC thing but I am thinking I should probably go ahead and get this DK thing. I originally never subscribed to it, because (no offense) I don't watch anything but DC games. Considering I may only have the opportunity to watch say 8 this season and with the annoying side by side commercials on ESPN I am thinking 31 games at 70 bucks is pretty damn cheap. And sure beats almost next to nothing.
    Thanks in advance.

You get every match televised by a local station. If a team does a pre-game show, you usually get those. It cuts off soon after the game ends.

Each team doesn't have a dedicated station, but they'll be on one of only a few channels and those channels will show the schedule.

I think it's well worth it.

Has anyone gotten any sort of response from FSC regarding their complaints? I haven't even gotten a courtesy auto-response telling me they received my comments.

I haven't gotten a response. Don't expect one after the nasty email I sent. But I see several people have email them so I expect they got the "message" that the subscribers are unhappy.

The interesting tidbit in that article is that in Canada Digital providers must obtain a license in order to provide certain types of content. I assume that by digital they are referring to cable or satellite systems. Of course cable and satellite providers are not regulated for content in the United States.

Makes me wonder if a person can take a dump in that country without the government granting a license first.

Just trying to understand this completely before I cancel my FSC subscription. Are you saying that the RSN's (regional sports networks) are still available such as CSN even without FSC? What else does one lose by canceling FSC because I thought it was some sort of "sports package deal"

    Thanks.

I live in Baltimore and Comcastsportsnet Mid-atlantic (most likely what you would get) is available without getting FSC the "sports tier" consists of FSC, Goltv and a bunch of Fox College channels. CSN comes with standar expanded basic cable and above.
BUT...if you are planning on watching DC on CSN that isn't going to happen as no deal has been finalized yet. THIS is why i am opting to just go ahead and get DK since without CSN doing coverage DC has 8 games televised all season.

Thanks Pints. I already have the Direct Kick package from DirecTv which is awesome. However, I did enjoy watching the games and other leagues on FSC but if they are completely ignoring MLS, then to heck with them.

Also, I wanted to make sure I got the regional channels since I watched the DC-NY game on the MSG network last week and I know the NE channels show some games as well.

    Bye to FSC.....

Hasn't FSC only been showing MLS games for two years? I had FSC before MLS came on and considered that a nice bonus.

Everyone go cancel FSC ... and then come back here and complain that you never see soccer games on TV in America.

FSC is probably taking a wait and see on how many MLS fans cancel their subscriptions. If many of us decide to keep it they won't bother with MLS games. I just made sure I'm one of those they can't count on.

No Direct Kick here on Mediacom. I'd cancel FSC but it's on the regular digital tier with BBC America.

Goota say, I was really liking Direct Kick last night.

Good stuff. Will always purchase it moving forward.

Man, than goodness the Rapids are gtting out of that stadium into those new digs.

Just need KC to come through and no more of that stuff on TV that makes you just want to cringe and not watch.

Direct Kick. GReat deal. Highly recommend.
