https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=335009 Looks like some weird stuff going on in Salt Lake in regards to Watson's place on the team. He's a Dallas boy, maybe he'd like to play for the hometown club. I know it seems like we've got a lot going on at forward right now, and if not starting is his issue he won't be happy here either, but he's always seemed like a talented kid who I wouldn't mind having in the mix. Thoughts?
He's always wanted to play here, he was crushed when FCD passed on him to trade for Cornell Glenn. A trade that made since with the risk of not getting Ruiz. Problem is Ellinger likes the kid and that makes Jamie's cost exceed his value. But I can promise you he would love to come to Dallas.
But what if Ellinger doesn't like him anymore? That's kind of the point with this thread. Something is up in Mormon land, and I WANT ANSWERS!!!
We've seen him train a few times with FCD and he is very quick and never seems to stop. His size could be an issue IMO - he's kinda small but again very active. He would be a good emergency forward, IMO better than Abe.
Abe is a target, Ruiz's spot. The second forward is Mina, Cooper, and then probably Oduro. So I think Watson would have to beat out Oduro for a roster spot. I don't think I would want to let Oduro go. Unless, of course, you consider Oduro an outside winger and so you can drop Torres.
You are TOO funny... Watson not happy with RSL.. I'm still laughing.. You obviously haven't been reading the local papers out here in Salt Lake and listening and reading his interviews on how the team is much better than last year (okay, yep, they lost one game but season just started ). He just did a radio interview recently stating how happy he was with the team this year. He's very involved in the community in fact if I remember correctly, he did or is getting ready to do a reading program at my kids school and does the Power in Youth which is the govenors wife project. Someone just reminded me he just bought a house in the Salt Lake area. My impression from reports I'm hearing, is he's very happy with RSL and Coach Ellinger is happy with him and his direction with RSL. Watson missed a weekend for whatever reason, personal for all we know and by the way it isn't any of our business, and the rumors have started flying. RSL FO has confirmed he is playing in Dallas this weekend and if you recall from last years game, he did score . He loves playing in his hometown but who wouldn't. IMO, doesn't seem like RSL or Watson are unhappy with each other.
Get your grubby mitts off our player! Last year, after one of the games I met his parents and said to his dad (while Jamie was standing there), "the question is would he rather be playing for us or for FC Dallas since he's from there..?" and Jamie had the guiltiest look on his face. So yeah, he's "happy" in Salt Lake, but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be "happier" back at home. But in the meantime: get your grubby mitts off our player!!
Did you miss the question mark? I was just linking to a thread on the RSL board with info posted by your fellow RSL fans. Genius.
I have heard from a very reliable source that Jamie's absence this weekend is no cause for alarm. He is not being traded, he is no "unhappy at RSL", he is not in bad favor with Coach E. There was a legitimate reason he was not playing and it had nothing to do with his skill, relationship with team mates, relationship with the coach, etc. Basically... just forget he was missing for two minutes!
Again, I can confirm that that was NOT the reason he wasn't seen this weekend. But as far as I know, your statement could still be true.
Alright, I've got the scoop! ... but I've been sworn to secrecy. Everything is fine and he'll be back on the roster this weekend. We're just gonna leave it at that. Sorry, guys!
Dang you're good. But you didn't hear it from me. (Warning: Sarcasm can be difficult to detect when reading internet message boards.
