i know there are other keeper and game 1 threads, but i thought with a game completed we could start a new thread, since technically with a single game played, the first guy to start is the Starting keeper.

So put forth your comments about our starting goalkeeper Sala's performance, and your thoughts on how soon we should get a look at option B, Cassar.

My comments... I thought Sala did well to take away some chances after the first two goals were conceded. don't think he is too much to blame for the two goals although he could have closer attempts at keeping them out. To me Rhine seems at fault on both... not sure what Rhine was doing on goal one the dribbler moved around him with ease. For the second goal Rhine gave away possession on the wing when he really shouldn't have given away possession, and 10-20 seconds later a goal was scored.

So please.. share your thoughts of Sala as well as let me know if you agree that both goals can be blamed on Rhine or if you see my assessment as harsh there.

I'd put part of the blame on Sala for the first goal.

The ball wasn't struck that hard, and a lot of keepers in that position either manage to hang onto the ball, or knock it over the endline.

I doubt any GK could have stopped the Fire's second goal, though, unless the forward choked and struck the shot near the goalie.

The fault for the first goal started before Rolfe made it over to Rhine's area.

When Rolfe was at the top of the area, the Bad-son made a rush towards him but gave up on it, with cover behind him IMO. He seemed tentative coming forward, but should have been more agressive closing down Rolfe and challenged the play. Instead he let Rolfe go, and the play moved left to Rhine's area. We saw what happened then.

And he had a huge save all alone against Rolfe (i think).

If he doesn't make that one, it's 3-1 to the bad guys.

Tremendously important moment in the game, imho.

you guys he needs to start because he's my fantasy keeper. how long into the future do you see him as the starter, Swami Buzz? i'd like to keep him through the RSL game because i figure that provides as good a chance as any game for him to get a shutout. will he be the starter on saturday?

A strong rumor has it that Salas will be cut after next week and Bobby Rhine will get a try out as keeper.

I just called Dario and he's decided to retire rather than play in pain. Burse is starting Saturday with Cassar still out.

Rule #1 of posting on the FC Dallas board:
Never put the words "fantasy," "team," and/or any player's names together in any sort of combination before a question mark. You will look like an idiot.

Sorry you had to learn this the hard way. :D

Of course. In fact Steve Morrow told me they plan to have everyone in the box when it comesx to corners and other set piece plays.

I have to disagree that Goodson gave up on it. Clarence had to stop because Rhine left his man to help out and got in Clarence's way, then allow Rolfe to beat him (Rhine) on the outside. At least that's the way I saw it as I used fast forward and rewind.
