    Bump.

I was wondering how things went, and how "festive" y'all we're allowed to be.

It was the bomb. Lots of fun, very little hassle. Felt good to be around folks who cheered (etc) similarly.

There was one lady a few rows in front who sent a couple of glares our way closer to the beginning of the game. But as the match went on and goals were scored and others cheered, I guess she gave up because we received no more icy stares.

For my part, it was great to meet the folks -- Miss Charlie, inferno man, Ze Bill, Viviana. I'm looking forward to the season...it should be a great ride!

And I just wanted to share the following: if you find it difficult to follow Ze Bill's posts, just imagine listening to him self-translating into spanish to speak with one of our Ecuadorian visitors! Now that's quality entertainment.
    :D

    Sounds great, Bill.

But are you talking about the West Siders?

    Or the East Siders.

Re: Festive Section on the "West Siiyde"

The Mrs. and I are section 107 Row 2. We had the whole section rolling as we yelled "FRANKS AND BEANS!!" as Floyd Franks was subbed onto the pitch for Chicago.

Not to mention, I damn near took out my wife with the boom sticks (or whatever they're called). Purely accidental but she almost yellow-carded me on the beer.

Oh yea, we have some good times where I sit.:D

What about the very rare Inferno "North-siders"?

I wouldn't quite say that Northside Rover's undercover -- though I don't notice him around here much anymore. :)

No different than being behind the goal. We stood the entire game, drummed away, and cursed like sailors. Well, maybe not. But we did do two out of the three.

As someone working the game (hence, walking around), it was great to have all the various sounds coming from different directions. Now we just need to let them all grow organically. 116 will always be the more crazy end of things - more free to do certain things that you can't do in 108 or 129 - but color and sound all around the stadium seems to be catching on.

FWIW, looks like LRL is going to be in 118 for next week.

BTW, what did you guys think of the streamers?

Awesome - what about adding more confetti to the mix? Confetti doesn't ball up and roll down the pitch in the wind like the streamers did. Very distracting. Maybe that's the seratonin talking.

I thought streamers, confetti, smoke, fighter-planes, more cowbell - it was all good.
I mean what else can we do out there???

....who's got a set of bagpipes????

ABC had a devil of a time trying to figure out which "ambience" mikes to turn on all through out the broadcast.

    Less streamers, more confetti.

I'm working on cutting more confetti and the people next to us thought it was cool and are bringing a few bags full as well. Sec 108 will be on confetti overload!
The streamers looked really cool though.

No confetti cannons though....just pass out bags of the stuff like you did with the streamers. Get the crowd involved, don't do it for them.

Slight OT, but will there be something similarly "special" (streamers/confetti/etc) planned for the Houston game? Is it too early to get fired up about that one? What about that canon?

I'll pass that along. Although, to be honest, I'm not sure about the logistics of cutting up all that confetti..... (of course, previous supporters would do that, bring it in and hand it out...... anyone up for that?)

How much confetti did the cannons use? I think you can actually buy confetti if you want to.

Yeah, Kevin. Just don't get it from the printers who took so damn long with my season tickets.

(This is where someone points out that I didn't even bring my ticket to the last game...)

I was out of town last week - lying on a beach in Mexico drinking Pacifico. :D

Streamer cannons - they looked fine - but its a slippery slope to fireworks cannons and smoke machines. Pretty soon it'll be a Poison concert complete with sound effects.

As a rule - I am against confetti and streamer cannons and noise effects.

Between the 2 or 3 festive sections going now - we ought to be able to generate enough streamers and confetti instead of having someone (mommy) do it for us.

I know I can't be at every game like most of you and probably won't be able to get to a home game until May - but that is my opinuion for whatever its worth.

It's worth plenty. We had a couple of smoke bombs, too, and didn't catch any flak for them - so all seems to be going well. "Unskinny Bop" by the All-Star game, I'd say.

    North,
For the record, there were no streamer cannons......the streamers were handed out by the ushers and thrown by the fans.
