I am sure it knocked something out of him. Geez, a whiplash, that sucks.

Knock on wood, but i've never taken one in the grill. I've been clanked in the boys more times than i care to remember and the hardest i've ever been hit was square in the abz......by a wicked blazing side volley.....from my own player. I'll never screen the keeper again. You'd think a MISL/A-league level player could avoid hitting his own player....NOT! :(

Once I tried to clear a ball that was bouncing and I mis-hit it. I sliced it so much that as the ball grazed this guys eyebrow it had a ton of back-spin and just ripped this guys eyelid wide open.....it was nasty. :(

    How horrifying for him!

"I couldn't breathe," says Jimmy. It's one thing to get hit in the torso or falling on your butt and losing your breath, but getting hit it the head and losing your breath? I shudder! Your respiratory center is in your brainstem, you damage that, which can happen with a severe "whiplash" and your a goner!

    Jimmy's lucky.

Hit in the face and it affects your breathing......i'll take my chances with a knack in the nads. I'm getting good at recovering from that. I took one about two weeks ago, I was only down for about 5 minutes. :D

well I dont have much experience with that;) but I was hit in the face with a softball when I was younger. I was running to second and the second baseman got a relay from the outfield and turned around and threw the ball right at my face (she didnt know I was right behind her). I was knocked out for awhile and that was the worst pain I've ever felt. It didnt affect my breathing though thank god...I looked pretty bad for a couple of weeks after it though

Damn.....that's brutal, like that 2nd Base ump in MLB who took a spinning relay throw right dead in the nugget. The only time I got hit in the face, in any sport, was raquetball, i caught a backhand in the mouth with a raquet. It loosened teeth and split my lip but thats nothing compared to you, or jimmy.

I dunno, something about this just sounds hillarious. 5 minute recovery time to get back up eh? Not bad. Not bad at all!! :D

I don't know, but I hope he comments on Sports Illustrated talking about Landon Donovan and his creepy stalking.

    Here and There
i took a pretty good hit to the grill once back in high school....the worst part of it was, the shot came from my own foot.
(you know how the eustacian tubes connect your mouth to your ears?)
i was gearing up to take one of the hardest shots of my career, blasted the ball, only to have it hit a defender two yards in front of me, and it came back and hit me in the mouth so hard that my ears felt this jolt of pain, and I fell backwards onto the ground. needless to say, my mouth was full of blood. go ahead and laugh.
