I think if the Hoops struggle and are hovering around 4th place much of the season CC won't be around for the playoffs. Remember he's not Hitch's guy and a few stumbles could get him removed. I'm certain management didn't consider last season a success and if the regular season starts going bad I really think a mid-season move will be made. The new management team is all about success whether on the field, ticket sales, community relations, PHP utilization, selling the brand and in every other measureable way. That's just my opinion any way.
I still think Mr. Hunt is running the show in regards to the GM and head coach and it is not his style to let a coach go so soon especially if they have been at least reasonably successful. Now, if the season is clearly a disaster like when Jeffries was let go then I could see it. If you don't agree then take a look at how many coaches KC and Columbus have had over the years.
Fair enough, I still think if the team is in 4th place at the all-star break PHP won't be a very friendly place for CC and Hunt won't like that. But yes the Hunt's have not been quick to change coaches and that has more to do with being thrify than loyal.
not sure I agree with this...If the Hunts were really that "thifty" they would not have been in the "soccer" business since 1967....holy hell....has it been almost 40 years....and having been fired by the Hunts from a head coaching position...( and fired on July 4th, a great day to fire an Englishman)...I know of what I speak....
Of course being in the soccer business for 40 years doesn't mean he is thrifty and he could habve made more money somewhere else. However, he is not the type of owner who dumps a coach on a whim. It takes a prolonged bad spell to be let loose. He has three MLS teams and the Kansas City Chiefs as examples. CC could be fired if things start really poorly and attendance suffers. If the middle along with occasional glimpses of better times I cannot see CC losing his gig. I would probably basically agree with this philosophy or else you end up in the mire the Metro's / RBNY have been in. It's a team sport and there are no guaranteed succesful coaches or players that will fix things. Bora, Carlos Pareira, Lothar, Carlos Hermosilla, El Spitador .......
4th place makes the playoffs. I want the Hoops to have enough left in the tank to roll in September-November. It depends on how they get to 4th place. If the top 4 are close in points and the team has been competitive but unlucky, that's OK. Now if they are in 4th place because they suck and the two teams below them just happen to suck harder, then yes there could be a change. But I don't see a change in coaches, I see a change in personnel.
CC was re-signed on a one-year deal for a reason. This is his last chance to show that his "plan" is working. I think a lot of people lost confidence in him last season when they had their 10 game winless streak and nothing, tactically, seemed to change during that time. If there isn't a title this season.....any kind of title.....then he HAS to be in trouble. MLS Cup, Supporter's Shield, USOC or Western Conference Championship......or else.
I'm sorry but with attacking players like O'brien, Nunez, Alvarez, Ruiz, Mina, and possibly Cooper and with Mulrooney coming back FCD should win at least one trophy and not finish the season in 4th place. The key for FCD imo is O'Brien. CC needs to make sure he's fresh for Septemer by resting him at appropriate times during July and August. The way Sampson managed Donovan is good guide here.
The GM most likely has a lot of say about the coach and CC was not his man (pick). Plus a bad record at the new stadium. Hence, the only one year contract extension.
