I know alot of disciplined players that suck at the game. It means nothing. C. Ronaldo has certainly more talent than Joe Cole...in fact, the impression I have of the english is that Mourinho turned him into a good player when no one gave him credit before...like Maniche for ex. While Ronaldo's talent was pure and visible from the very start.
I agree on the part that he needs to learn more about using his skills. However he's not THAT selfish or tactically immature like you say.
And I have no idea how can you compare the skills of Denilson with C. Ronaldo...
Plus, I'm curious to know who has been your best player throughout this season...

Actually that is wrong about Joe Cole - he was known nationally for his skills and raw talent when he was a schoolboy and he was heralded as the messiah of English football. Nobody ever disputed that he was not a highly skillful player, but early in his professional career he received a lot of criticism for his play - for example on his England debut against Italy he used a superb bit of skill to make the first goal, but later in the match he lost the ball deep in his own half whilst trying to take on two or three Italian players which gifted Italy the equalizer.

I don't know why the comparison between Denilson and C. Ronaldo is bad - Denislion was one of the most skillful players in the world and infact the step-overs which is one of C. Ronaldo's favoruties tricks was also Denislon's favourite trick, so much so they used be know as 'Denilsons'.

Rooney and Van Nistelrooy have been better for Man U this season , though over the last month or so Ronaldo has been in his best form for Man U and Van Nistelrooy in not so good form.

Really? Rooney? ill admit Ronaldo got a slow start to this season and didnt play his best futebol in the beginning of it but Rooney has been the same way, if not more so. He has shown glimpses of last season's brilliance but he has been inconsistent as well. Van Nistelrooy had a great first half of the season but has lost a few starts lately to Saha, but ill say himself and Ronaldo have been the best players overall in the season.

I don't think Rooney's been that incosistent - he's disappeared in a few games and he's gone strectches without scoring, but neither of these things really amount to inconsistency (firstly all players no matter what tform they're in have games where they don't do a lot, and secondly when he's not been scoring he's still been creating). He's still averaging about a 7.4 score per game whereas Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy are averaging about a 6.7 score. Rooney's already scored more Premiership goals this season than he has in any other and he's 7th top scorer which is v.good considering he is not a classic centre forward/target man.

I don't think Man Utd have had a better strike partnership than Rooney and Van Nistelrooy for a very long time (Cole and Yorke was more about the service they were getting), but Ronaldo has yet to fill David Beckham's boots - it's not that he's incapable of doing it, it's just that he's been too wasteful.

lmao where's those ratings from? Skysports? That site that says Benfica are a pub team that wouldn't be good enough to be in the EPL.

Cristiano Ronaldo has 11 goals scored this season from 29 starts... not bad for a winger that only started playing well after Xmas. Rooney has 15 goals scored from much more starts and he's a forward.

I have absolutely no doubt that if Ronaldo was english he'd be rated higher than Rooney.

If Ronaldo was english his name would be Roner and would be an angry angry man that could only ran fast and be good at kicking the ball upfield.

*Sigh* do I detect a little resenment.

Rooney has been vital to Utd this season, Ronaldo's a good player but he's not as important to Utd as Rooney. It's nothing to do with nationality.

I agree that Rooney is more important to Manchester United, and right now is a little better then Ronaldo.

It just get me angry the way the english announcers praise rooney for everything, but when he begins to force things, his touch fails him, doesn't produce an end product, they turn right around and acuse ROnaldo of the same thing...

Rooney does make mistakes, but everyone does; everyone misses a sitter from time to time it's only ewhen they make a habit of it that it becoems worrying.

Ronaldo doesn't just get flack - he gets a lot of praise too, evryone recognizes his talents and he's very popular with younger fans. The reason why Ronaldo gets more flack than Rooney is that when he does soemthging badly it's often the result of a poor decision. Ronaldo is not prone to mistakes due to poor technique, quite the opposite, but he does make bad calls. If you take a shot from 30 yards rather than passing it to a teamate for a simple 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper you've got to prepared to take the flack if you miss, even if it is a good shot and you only miss by a half a metre or so (as happened a few months ago - I forget the game).

If he modified his gam eonly a little he'd be so much more better - we still want to see the step overs and the flicks and the runs, but at the right times.

threads still going strong I see... to be honest I'm a bit disappointed in his progress over the last year or so. He's had some tough personal issues to deal with and that might be part of the problem, but he just makes too many suspect decisions, and is not nearly consistent enough to be considered a top player in the world at the moment. Every so often though, he does put on quite the display and when all his skills come together and he's having one of his good days, there isn't a better player on the planet. The problem is those outings are too far in between.

I disagree, I think he is improving by the game. Granted, he still has some wrinkles to iron out and sometimes he has to re-iron some but he has been tremendous these past couple of months for Man U and the Selecao.

Yeah I would have to agree with GoodDead. I think he has improved this season. He always comes to play with the Seleccao, for Manchester United he is usually a top 3 player on the feild if not the best player.
