For me, I don't see Scolari taking Ricardo Quaresma!

I think quaresma will go, but I don't think he'll play much...
I think boa Morte is the best player that may not make the team.

I don't think Quaresma is going. The next friendly will determine if he's going or not. If he's not on that roster - then he won't be in Germany.

I agree...Boa Morte may be left out...possibly Pedro Mendes as well considering his form has been heating up of late

A joke, my fellow Mod's son has the same name, well almost I 100% gaurentee you don't share the same first name ;)

And I have a sad feeling "my boy" LBM will not get the chance to represent Portugal at the WC :(

He is still "The Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea killer" none the less

For the record C.Ronaldo is "The Arsenal killer";)

It's to bad Pedro Mendes will loose out becasue of the numbers. That midfield role has got to be Portugal's deepest position. Just to much competition ahead of him.

I can't say that I agree with most of you guys though about Boa Morte. I think he will be there. Great versatility and let's not forget he's the captain of Fulham and off the top of my head the only guys that can say that about their club are Boa Morte & Simao. Although I think Pauleta wears the arm ban sometimes for PSG doesn't he?

Either way I take Boa Morte over Quaresma. If we get a more physical opponent in the later rounds (that is if we make it) and one of the 2 is forced to play then Boa Morte will be used to it and will battle elbow to elbow where as Quaresma will just go to the ground and look for a free kick. And then it's all about how gullable the ref is!

I'll admit thought it seems like Scolari might not be the biggest fan of Boa Morte.

OMG - Tris, is that you? Perhaps he is following his dad's footsteps and going to mod in this site in a few years  So long as his favourite colour is green... :D

Unfortunately, I will have to say that Good Dead will not be going to the WC. I think that Scolari is set in his ways with Figo, Ronaldo and Simao, and I see Quaresma getting a 22nd or 23rd man spot, effectively ending any chance that Fulham's heart and soul man getting a roster spot, unless there is an injury from here to June 9...

Boa Morte is an "all out" run and gun player and not suited for the possession and build up style that Portugal will tend to use. While quick to the ball and very strong, his style is better suited for the EPL.

If it was for me I would take Boa Morte instead of Simão.

I think Carlos Martins will be our best player not going to the Mundial.

I think Pendro Mendes is the best player being left off. I think Quaresma will be a consistant sub for Figo in the 60-70 minute unless Figo is on fire.

Maybe this should have its own thread, but what about the worst player ON the team.

I'd pick Helder Postiga. I have nothing against Sr. Postiga, in fact I wish he was enjoying better success at his club in France, but he's not scoring over there. If Nuno Gomes is left off the team at Postiga's expense, Scolari should have his head examined. Gomes's ability to pass the ball is under-rated by Scolari, I think. I think Gomes could make Cristiano, Figo and Deco all the more dangerous. Although, since Pauleta is having such a fine year, I believe he should still be the starter.

Well said. Although i dont know if i would say postiga is the worst player, (maybe the least talented? lol) but he has performed well in big situations. Nuno is not ur typical striker, he reads the flow of play well and is a good playmaker/setup man, that being said its dumb when he plays as a lone striker. Now somehow having Nuno and Pauleta starting games on at the same time (i know i know it aint gonna happen) but that would be nice and maybe we can sacrifice costinha and have maniche hold the midfield by himself.

    our three strikers should be

    Pauleta
    Gomes
    Joao Tomas

Quaresma i feel is going to have an amaxing tournement...he wants to prove to the world hes not overrated and a flop at barca...havent u all noticed?? the apst games in the league hes looked tired and bored out there?? like hes waiting for his chance for the ntl team...after he was amazing to get called.

I don't know if I would attempt to do that now that Andrade is gone. If we still had Andrade in the lineup it would be very possible.

P.S: If Manuel Fernandes doesn't make the team he will be the best player left off.

    Eh Pa
the answer is simple, LBM, should be given one more chance at the next friendly, if he does not produce, then i dont care how good hes doing in the epl he aint portugal material. Quaresma is a must. His sideline passing espcially with his outside curves will benfit us this summer.

As for the Best player being left out, enough with these joao tomas, carlos martins, if they were put on the team we must as well call it world cup 2002 all over again. NELSON, is obouvusly the player that we need in the line up, he is something unique not like caniera who i feel has nothing to offer this wc. Wat defnder has the SPEED, SKILL , PASSING that Nelson has .... he so good we should put him upfront instead of the P-man.

I got to agree with my man right here...lol

Nelson is good, but he hasn't proven he is as effective or better then Nuno Valente(playing good past month, 2 selections into team of week in the EPL) on the left side(LB).

On the right side Nelson is wonderful and is brilliant going forward. His crosses are something of beauty. But we got Miguel on that right side for speed, and he is doesnt have to send as many crosses in because he will be primarily feeding either Figo or ROnaldo....

I would love to see Nelson on the left side....but he has to prove himself on that side.
