Re: Alexi Speaks on Red Bull I swear he cringed right before drinking it. If you play that clip backwards it says "MLS will swallow your soul"
It wasn't so much the real Paul Allen that I was talking about; I meant the "Paul Allens" of the world - people who have the wherewithal to invest in this sport but have chosen to look elsewhere to put their money. You may be right about Paul Allen not being a good owner. On the other hand, some fans are hungry enough to dance with the devil if the devil would put an MLS team in their town.
it looks like the chicken littles have calmed down a bit since last night. someone brought this up, and i think it was a good point, but this assures that the new Harrison stadium will be a 100% first class venue. i mean, you folks in NYC/NJ should be so lucky, you're gonna get to watch soccer in the best soccer stadium in all of the US. now that Red Bull has 50% of it, they'll probably spend whatever it takes to make it the best stadium possible. there will be no cutting corners. this thing will probably have all the amenities an NFL/NBA stadium has. you'll be getting all sorts of US friendlies and maybe WCQs. but I'm sure some of you guys will find reasons to bitch anyway....
Cadav... Cadav, Cadav, Cadav... Literal interpretations are the rule on BigSoccer. Your synedoche/metaphorical language use is against the BS TOS, I think. It's grounds for an automatic red card. Please refrain from such figurative speech. Please. It's for the children.
The problem that I see in your entire rebuttal is this: Baseball. Football. I'm not convinced yet that MLS can survive the things that baseball and football does. Or even hockey. But, hey, if it is, damn! We're there! ... Now that I've had a chance to digest the news, read some reports about the new owner, let it sink in that MLS has a new owner (!), I'm starting to feel better about it. That still doesn't ease my personal desire for stability. And by that I don't mean the league sticking around for a long time. I mean all those things I've said before -- uniforms, names, identities. All those things that other folks are a lot more comfortable discarding than I am.
My view on the Metros sold to Red Bull is.......HA HA HA HA HA! It makes me laugh everytime I think about Red Bull New York. This makes it clear that New York sucks. Are the jerseys gonna have wings on the back? ( HE HE HE) When I go to a Fire game that's playing the Red Bulls, I'll try to control my laughter. HA HA HA HA HA!
The rules for player acqusition have been altered so that a team can go out and get marquee players for there SI spots and spend what they want but it has to be approved by the board. SO there is an avenue albeit a controlled one. Its kind of like a Larry Bird rule
You're talking about a rule change that was rumored but, to the best of my knowledge, was never actually voted on or passed. In other words, no.
You mean want to spend!!!! Chivas wants to spend more than NewEngland or Colorado right now. No one is telling them no. The owners are saying not right now
Gillette Stadium has all the amenities of an NFL stadium, AND we dont have a company advertising in our name! We get USNT friendlies all the time!
Another Eurosnob troll, complete with an MLS city as his location and European giant as his team, stopping by to offer up more snobbery. ******** off.
Re: Great Press! Red Bull Takeover makes Yahoo Front Page! ROFL thats a good one he he he I am still laughing
Does it really matter? The fact remains that Red Bull New York will be playing at Giants Stadium. I have yet to see anything indicating otherwise.
BUT your team isn't in a soccer-specific stadium, you're in a cavernous pointy-ball stadium that's rarely filled above 25% capacity for soccer. so there you go, your attempt to be smug fell flat on its face. you failed miserably. if you want tips on how to do it properly, i'll allow you to go back through my post archive. that is how it's done.
