I was way ahead of the curve on the Andrulis Out! campaign, and I'm way ahead on this one as well. I may be putting the cart before the horse because of this Metros thing, but the days of absentee ownership is about to expire. I demand that Crew be sold to a group with a huge chequebook, and will wield influence. Where is our representation from the UAE?

Can someone get the wealth statistics on Wexner, I want to cover my bases on domestic ownership before I phone up my shipping tycoon buddies over in Greece.

    Wexner is a cheapskate.

That's not great. Someone is needed to build an empire, it's clear that the Hunts do not want to do that here in Columbus. See, Andrulis, Greg

But he's rich as ********. The guy has probably lost more value in his stock portfolio in one day than he'd spend on the Crew.

Bobby Rahal might be a better choice, but I don't know if he's wealthy enough. He's local, and he seems like he'd be an invested owner.

Maybe we can get Michael Redd involved. The guy needs to invest his new $100 million contract somewhere.

Zak apparently wants us owned by an Onassis.

As someone who lived in New Albany before he bought the entire town, trust me... I know. Hard to believe I lived on the same street as him for a few years.

We don't need a Wexner, we need a Mark Cuban.

Seemingly every popular Hollywood socialite is dating some sort of shipping tycoon. I think we should look into that as far as investment in Crew goes.

People think I'm joking about Hunt Out! I can reveal that I am not. I'm actually quite serious. It's time to get the ball rolling. It's clear the Hunts are far more interested in the Dallas franchise.

    Ain’t that true.
Perhaps Letterman can front him the money.
He’d rename the team Bucks and make us scarlet and gray.
Fine with me. If I remember, the heir is pretty hot.

Now we are getting somewhere. Rahal-Letterman Racing could expand and purchase the Crew - and do some nice crosspromotions.

    Ha!

    Good genes.

And Zak - I believe you are sincere. So am I. I think we could do better with more involved, committed ownership. No problem still calling the park "Hunk Park".

We need an owner that is ready and willing to cut a check right off the bat for $30 million. $30 million liquid assets or don't even enter the offices of 1 Black & Gold Blvd.

This is gaining in legitimacy. Those that rolled their eyes when I started this thread, will be eating crow by the end of this season I predict.

Give me one season, and the naysayers will say "God Damn he was right on this one as well."

Lamar, we appreciate your $100k donation to the community of Obetz, it's really nice, however the ante has been raised, our fans demand the Clairfontaine of Columbus Crew be moved to the posh locale of Grandview, Ohio.

Wasn't it someone in Ohio who just won the $267m Mega Millions jackpot? Too bad it wasn't a Crew fan. Or was it?!

I think potential investors are waiting to see if UEFA is going to allow Crew into the Champions League after we destroy the entire league. Supporters Shield Champions by Labor Day.

If Pfizer (Viagra manufacturer) bought the club, they could certainly straighten things out.

It would certainly strengthen our already massive kit sales around the world.

AWESOME IDEA... they are going to have tons of cash left over after the Democrats get done with their current offer. We would of course then change our name to... PORT COLUMBUS.

Just kidding, the Hunts are a good group and much better than any of the other MLS owners. Just look at our stadium (the first) and Obetz.

This may be true, but Dallas is where their eggs lie. Crew are too massive to be a redheaded stepchild.

    The cosmopolitan spelling.

See the culture of our club is already changing, and I haven't even replaced Hunt yet.

While I am and always have been a firm believer in local ownership of sports franchises, I believe it can work out fine as long as the people who run the club are given the resources and the authority to operate the thing.

Teams with moronic, ego-inflated dolts and/or cheapskates as local owners are no better off than a team with an owner 1000 miles away. There are myriad examples of this.

And as long as MLS is operated on the single entity principle (and despite the noise I don't see that changing anytime soon. At the moment it seems to be working) and a salary cap anyone can be given a set of guidelines and the go-ahread to run the team.

Now if and when that changes, and each team is free to buy, spend and deal for whomever they want wherever they come from, then a local owner will become more of an issue.

For now, the only problems arise with issues like Andrulis. From a distance I just don't think HSG grasped the depth of the loathing. Towards the end the guy was an object of abject hatred, and that was never going to change. Even if HSG thought he was a brilliant tactician who was destined for greatness they STILL needed to fire him. Instead they let him hang on long past the point where he did real damage to the team, it's image and it's reputation in the community.

A local owner would have known that a lot sooner.

Otherwise, I'm perfectly happy with Clark Hunt running an investment empire from the Caribbean as long as McCullers has the money and authority to make decisions and implement policy.

I think we should go for DeWalt. They use the same colors as the Crew (more or less) and we could rename the team Power Tool Columbus. The mascot search could be fun.

Save the first spot in line for Bill Archer for the meet-and-greet with Danica "Skinny-Ass" Patrick.

I'm thankful for the Hunt family.

I have a feeling that this whole Red Bull thing would not have happened if Lamar, not AEG, were owner of the Metrostars. Lamar cares more about the people (fans) than the AEG empire does. Hunt has always been the conservative MLS owner, preaching slow growth versus the big bang. Garber will probably get an earful from him at the next owners' meeting.

Let me just say without a moment's hesitation that I would run over your ass with a bus and then back up and do it again just to make sure for a shot at Danica.

Thinking about that bucktoothed hack comedian ever being within 100 yards of her makes me want to kick sh!t out of someone.
