United vs. Lynn University [R] Again? According to the last sentence in this story by Brian Strauss in The Post United will be playing these guys again.
it's not on the preseason schedule http://www.dcunited.com/index.cfm?section=main&cont_id=161922 but, hey, practice is practice. and it's not like we lost to them.
Can anybody find out for me what time is the scrimmage? If it's after 6:30 i will take my cam and take a few pix for you guys since i live in south florida and very close to boca raton. Give me the answer as soon as possible.
Remember, because of the snow DCUnited is staying an extra couple of days in Florida. The team probably set up another scrimmage.
Uh... why does the article print the Freedom schedule under the United banner? Goff.. you may want someone to fix that. Sachin
And also might want to change the Freedom opener to April 5 and not May 5. (In the article, the schedule to the right has it correct)
Picky, picky, picky. Anybody else happy to be reading something other than NFL off-season roster moves? dadman
I'm scooping our own web site but we beat Lynn University 7-0 today (at least I think that is what I was just told). I expect a report on dcunited.com tonight or in the morning.
It's nice to know that if we play any Southern Florida teams during the regular season we should be able to handle them.. Seriously though, are we scheduled to play any MLS teams this preseason? I'm all for kicking the crap out of donkey college teams but at some point we need to play some teams that are worthwhile...
http://www.dcunited.com/index.cfm?section=games&cont_id=161922 Monday, March 3: Travel to Ft. Lauderdale Monday, March 3 to 13: Training at Hilton Sunrise Soccer Complex in Sunrise, FL Wednesday, March 5: Match vs. Chicago Fire at Florida Atlantic University, TBA Saturday, March 8: Match vs. Columbus Crew at Orange Bowl in Miami, FL, 5:00 p.m. (Copa Carnival) Monday, March 10: Match vs. Kansas City Wizards, TBA Friday, March 14: Return to Washington
Good to read that DC United seems to be clicking, albeit against college teams. I hope the players gain a lot of confidence from these results, because confidence is half of the battle. The fun starts next week as we see how our team measures up with other MLS teams.
From The Post: Earnie Stewart and Ryan Nelsen had two goals apiece and Marco Etcheverry, Dema Kovalenko and Ali Curtis had one each in a 7-0 victory over Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.
Ugh. You're hitting below the belt now, Tron. It could have been different (hitting the post & crossbar early on) but that was some seriously inept defending. We're an Italian team for chrissakes!!!
Coach's speach at halftime: "They'll get tired of scoring soon," pause for dramatic effect while looking around the locker room, "... and then we'll have 'em RIGHT where we want 'em!"
Lots of good stuff in here... 40 yard cross --> 40 yard cross --> earnie foot --> back of net.... i can't wait!! (granted this team wasn't LA, but we can't beat LA if we can't beat LynnU) Also, the Ship's Captain speaks very highly of Mr. Kovalenko... very good, very good... no negative news on this update... "everything is going as I have forseen" A little over a month... I think I can, I think I can...
