We are in the same boat, we were with the team formerly known as the SJ Earthquakes, during our first playoff game. The Galaxy need to leave here with at least a two goal cushion. Saprissa can easily score three goals at home on the G's.

We know how the guys play on the road, let alone the international road. The G's aren't even in season form, my prediction 2-1 Galaxy.

After taking a months hiatus I am glad to back here at Big Soccer.
I don't think we should worry about playing ,or beating for that matter, Saprissa. You guys can make fun of me later if we lose but anyway although a little off topic I heard the Mexico teams will play with all reserves for there CCC matches, this will suck but for some reason I can't think of why right now.

    P.S: We Own you MFL

Yeah, that was him. He had a bit to say on Galaxy Deportivo, but since I understand very little Spanish all I could gather was that he was here to check out the competition.

Soccer Nation, don't you watch the show? I think you made a comment about something I'd seen on a recent show. Perhaps you can translate the show for us Spanish illiterates.

Maybe for this particular match, but the opportunity to get rolling and game-ready while the rest of MLS teams are just shoveling the snow out of their driveways should put us in good stead come April. I would rather be playing the matches now than having midweek matches in between MLS matches during the early part of the season. (Of course if we win these, we will have more matches but its worth playing a couple of times midweek for the chance to go play on a world stage.)

With the nats released to train with the team, we might be okay to take on Saprissa. I'd be worried if we had to deal with missing starters due to MNT duty on top of the potential preseason rustiness.

No way dude. There are 30 of them including 2 goalkeepers. We can't compete with that with only 11! Someone call Jack Warner!

So what are people thinking the outcome is going to be?

I'm going to go with a 1-1 draw.

I also think we need to win by 2 goals to go through to the next round.

After the South Korea game, we just looked so unprepared, so even with LD, Dunivant and Hartman back, I still think we're going to struggle to get up to speed.

I sure hope i'm wrong however.

Just rumor I heard and would like to hear from anyone. Is it true that the Saprissa match is being limited to 10,000 tickets because it is a midweek match when Cal St. D.H has night classes? Anyone know?

    From the Galaxy FO:

Both endlines and the general admission sections will be open for this game. The Upper Deck is the only section closed for this match.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

    Article from: www.saprissa.co.cr
    Translation: The Esco Times

Saprissa (Monster, The Monster) is prepared to face the Galaxy next Thursday 23 of February at the Home Depot Center in California, United States. After a chat with the technical director Hernán Medford, the purple team carried out a practice to tune up details and to define the players that travel tomorrow.

During the practice Hernán tests various players in not habitual positions for them and they played a collective scrimmage of half field to practice definition, short passes and tactical movements.

The players that were starters in yesterdays ecounter versus the Bruges of Escazú, only carried out light works of recovery and of muscle relaxation. The others they practiced intensely with the technical assistant Oscar Ramírez and Mark it Tulbovitz.

Training today was very special, because the ambient of the environment is present and the desires of the players to continue defending the title of the CONCACAF. The Monster (Saprissa) are in the quarter finals, for which they will played on American ground and the return game in the cave of the Monster.

The players are you aware that the Galaxy is not an easy team, but is neither invincible. “Already we have seen them to play, they are very strong and although they are in pre-season, they are the champion U.S. and have players of a lot of experience.” José Francisco Sticks recognizes that this game is not of routine and that have to be very concentrated from the beggining of the game.

The Monster travels without some players that have come playing with a lot of regularity, like Ronald the “Bullet” Gómez (suspended), Reinaldo Parks, Randall Azofeifa are some of the ones that they are going to rest and to coach while in the Stadium Ricardo Saprissa to be ready for the classic.

Furthermore the young purple talent Celso Borges, would be able to debut in an encounter of the Tournament of CONCACAF and it would be the first international experience of the purple player with the first team of Saprissa.

    Players making the trip:

    JOSE F. PORRAS HIDALGO
    FAUSTO GONZALEZ SIBAJA
    TRAY BENNETT GRANT
    ANDRES NUÑEZ VARGAS
    JODY STEWART JONES

From all i've heard and seen this game is being totally ignored outside of LA (thanks to 1836 and Novak). Best of luck to you, I have been looking forward to watching since the dates were announced. I love the regional tournaments and I hope you take the game serious and win at home.
    Go MLS!!!!!!!!

Re: Galaxy vs. Saprissa - Thursday, Feb 23, 8:00pm @ Victoria Street [R]

Okay. Time to get down to it.

Based on the Chivas scrimmage, is this our starting lineup?

    ----------Gato
    --Robert-Ugo-Ty-Duni
    Cobi-Landon-Sags-Grabs
    ------Herc--Gordon

Is Sampson recognizing that with Vagenas injured, he really needs Landon in the midfield for his speed, skill and leadership? I think Landon with his A+ game controlling the midfield could make the difference in this game.

But Roberts and Gordon are the big ???
I have faith in the rest of the lineup, but can those two step up to the challenge?

Can Gordon be dangerous enough to open up space and/or knock down some long balls for Herc?

Can Roberts not get burnt like toast and/or score an own goal?

    Stay tuned Thursday night....

It's b/c LA has a lot of Latino fans and MLS is prejudiced against Latinos.

    I'm kidding!! I kid.

Actually, I don't see the Revs getting more coverage, but i don't check MLSnet.com all that often...
