: a pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other's false conceptions conspicuous by adroit questioning -- called also Socratic irony
2 a : the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning b : a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony c : an ironic expression or utterance
3 a (1) : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result (2) : an event or result marked by such incongruity b : incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play -- called also dramatic irony, tragic irony

As you can see from the def's they are similar in definitional terms but not so much in meaning, there should be an implication of something unexpected when using the term ironic. In fact the unexpectedness is central to the definition. So something that is ironic might be coincidental, yet something coincidental may not be ironic. So without any knowledge of how the boys on the other side of the pond use the term he could very well have a point. Well now I feel a little silly getting into a discussion on this sort of subject.

Yes. I have looked at it. Most of our players have EU passports or appeared to be covered under the Kolpak decision. You probably don't even know what that is, right?
I already said that I made the mistake of believing what another mod told me about the Prem rules. He was correct about the past rules just not the ones since the change in work permit standards. I did a quick check and found evidence to support his claims. Like this article or this followup article. Do me a favor. Find a single game since then that we played with 4 or more work permit players (not from a country covered under Kolpak).

I really don't care where in the EPL he'll end up, I just want him to be a Starter and gain tremendous experience to better his career and the U.S. National Team.

maybe Standard wasn't looking to sell. Since he has 18 months left on his contract they may want to hold him for the rest of their season, let him get his value up in the WC and sell him then. That would also give them time to find a solid replacement for him

Is the earlier post is correct, and it seems to be, that only three non eu wp players can play in a single game, Gooch does no good for Reading. You'd want him as an everyday starter, just as you'd want sonko to start every day, and Convey, and Marcus.

Good. I was wondering about that. thinking about it, Sonko might have a passport as well (senegalese, so probably french). I'd love to see Gooch at Reading. The guess on BS that he'll be valued around $8.7m (pds 5m), though, is steep for Reading ...

I checked the FA guide and couldn't find the rule the knowledge was quoting the spokeswoman as quoting.

In Championship Manager, when you manage in Britain, your roster doesn't even flag who is and isn't EU. That's not true in any other league I've managed.

And CM never gets that kind of stuff wrong. semi ;)
