Does the season start this weekend for anyone? I'm doing a few games at the PDA club in NJ. I'm working a few u-13 games with Mark Geiger, that should be cool...

Who else is starting this weekend. Or who is still in their season, I know you southerners are in full swing right now, right?

Anyway, I'm interested to see when outdoor soccer gets going for everyone around the US on this board.

Our Hispanic League begins play this Sunday. Up to 28 teams this year. It's snowing right now but supposed to stop tomorrow. It will still be cold.

Also, did my first HS game of our season last night. Let the insanity begin.

Our winter competitive league (U15-19) began on 1/29 here in Oregon. My first matches, since I had to spend a hard week in Cabo doing quality control on tacos and assorted beverages, are Sunday. Gonna go watch a couple Saturday to make sure I am mentally calibrated, since the last match I did at this level was in July....

Kinda nice these days, since we have more and more field turf to play on, so we are getting winter soccer with no mud.

I am supposed to do a pre-season youth friendly tomorrow afternoon, but there's 3 inches of snow on the ground right now and it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Youth tournaments and National Cup the next two weekends, with youth and adult amateurs starting the first weekend in March, and girls' HS the following week.

We had a High School Jamboree last Saturday. Four teams and all play 30 minutes against each other team.

High School season picks up on Feb 13 and rec doesn't start until Mar 4. Don't know about the adults yet. They were still registering last weekend.

Enjoy, I have to go to a birthday party tomorrow. Otherwise, I may have been there too. Enjoy the snow if it comes early.

I hope the snow holds off, I could use the extra dough and I really want to get back on the pitch.

I might have to break down and bring my black ski cap... but then will I embaress myself in front of a national referee? I'll have to play that by ear.

Wow, we're still in Washington State Cup playoffs, with semi-finals next week. Two week break, then boys' high school. The adult leagues start up at about the same time, mid-March.

Of course, winter leagues here are still going...

Wear a full-face ski mask instead of a cap ... both problems solved. :D

    ???

It's 80 out here in sunny so cal.

Time to break out the short sleeved shirts again :p .

As for our season...I believe club teams are done, but AYSO is still going from the fall season. I have a full slate of U14 Area playoff games for tomorrow.

You southern cali people love to rub it in our faces...

Weather calls for 6-12 inches here tomorrow.... maybe we'll delay the season's kick off then. I hope not though. I bet you it never snows in SoCal... how sad.

    The name says it all
Soccer is year-round in California. Guaranteed at least one soccer league in full swing every weekend of the year.

You know it's real rough living here ;) .

It's hard to pick your week-end activities. After-all skiing is only 30 minutes away, but the beach and surfing is only 30 minutes away too...so many choices  .

AYSO "fall" still going? Why do they start so late? Is it too hot to play in the actual fall?

Our AYSO fall finished up the weekend before Thanksgiving. Practices for spring start this coming week, first games on 3/4.

    Wreave:
Our region started games for the fall season back in Sept. Our region does 10 "practice games" for all the age groups, which finish by Thanksgiving. Then for U10 and up there is a pool play tournament which takes up the month of December. The region "championships" is figured out by the end of January. The two top teams from each Region then move on to Area playoffs, which takes the month of February. Section playoffs are the first week-end of March.

So as far as being a soccer parent, you really hope that your child doesn't end up on a good team, because your "fall" season will run August (first practices) to potentially March  .
But in terms of being a referee it's great because there's always games  .

SE Michigan - April 22. Hopefully the second weekend of the season won't be snowed-out again this year!

State Premier starts April 8. We told our club teams they can schedule as many away games as they want before April 22, but don't expect any hometown fields to be available before then.

So 6-12 inches of snow = only a "maybe we'll delay"?

Any league that starts play in mid february in NJ and isn't sure that it will cancel for 6-12 inches of snow and 50 mph winds, that is scary in my book! :)

Or maybe you are cheating and playing indoors???

Richmond, VA opens the adult season with a slate of cup matches on February 26th. Regular season begins March 5th. High schoolers start practicing on February 20th so I would expect there to be scrimmages shortly thereafter.

We got the games in before the snow started to accumulate. Kicks ass.

Then we got hit with 16 inches... Kicked our asses.
