Some friends and myself just bought 9 tix for the US/Guat game
and I was wondering how sales are going.
Being that everyday I open up my Al Dia sportspage and see full page ads
for Mex v. Ghana but not one mention of US/Guat.
There has been no mention in the DMN, Spanish tv, or radio.

Is it just me or are we looking at about 10,000 people?????

Just what exactly is the advertising plan for this game?

I asked Kevin the same question regarding promotion for the USA game and his reply was that it was in the hands of USSF. FCD has a vested interest in this and all events that transpire at PHP, you would think that being 12 days away some sort of promotion from the Fed or FCD would be in order.

Trying to use logic again? When will you learn - the rule are secret and logic does not apply.

Please rest assured that FCD FO is much constrained by the USSF, I remember the incredible lack of promotion the USSF allowed for the last fixture here.

Every front office lazy ass at the USSF front office should be fired and repalced by people that actually care and try.

That may be a bit harsh. I am sure someone cares up at the USSF office. Someone from the cleaning crew I bet.

Soccer in the US would be better served by a half competent staff instead of the stooges we have running the show now. Truly inept.

Why wouldn't the USSF desire, and work actively and co-operatively with FCD, to achieve a nice full house for USA × Guatemala at PHP a week and a half from today?

    I'm in the dark.

My only impression of the USSF is a hunch that they're a bit...? cosy?... ineffective? in the area of referee oversight and development...

but smart to have hired and kept Mr. Arena.

Ya i too am surprised by the lack of ads or any type of awareness this game has been given. i have had many non-soccer fans ask me about it as they have heard, through others I guess, what the game was all about and when it was.

Well, in the interest of debate, why would you spend any money on marketing if the game is going to sell out in a small stadium.

I wouldn't spend a penny on the Mexico Ghana game. And for this game I would probably just do a couple of newspaper adds in the DMN on Friday and Saturday.

My hunch is that the game has probably comfortably rounded 10K. And a good comparitor would probably be something like the interliga games. I wonder how many tickets the sold out day had sold 12 days before that match.

edit: well that link doesn't seem to work...just go to sigloxxi.com...

wait for it to come in...

    click on "deportes"...

    then when that comes in...

scroll way down the page and click on "Seleccion" in blue

I see El Pando listed there, I don't see El Pescadito.

The match 2/19 will represent farewell-to-the-national-team for three fellows, Plata, Giron, and Acevedo.

You know the sad thing is that this is why SOCCER in America is not like other countries out there. If someone besides the cleaning crew would give a crap then all the game so far could have been sold out. Most people here about matches because they have season tickets with there MLS teams or from word of mouth. That is crazy since we have a new stadium and it not being full for the USMNT.

    Sorry for rant

I know the FCD Sales office reads these posts. Now would be an ideal time for them to jump in with some numbers - you know give us PHP supporters the warm fuzzies.

I haven't seen to much advertising for individual tickets, just the Stars and Stripes packages.

I just did several random searches for 2 seats on Ticketmaster. The $55.00 seats appear to be all sold out. The $80 seats generated two seats in row one, section 107 (West side-center-damn good seats). Seems to be plenty of $125 seats (Go figure), none in the $42.00, found a few in the $32 range, although right in the corner, Some in the $25 near the middle of the section, Some good stuff available for $18.00.

...ok, so it would appear that with just more than a week to go, there seems to be quite a few tickets left for what should be a monumentally cool event.

In all fairness though, PHP was not sold out on the MLS cup until the week of the game, then a good 4 - 5 days of standing room only sales.

    We shall see....

I heard that the sales were only at 8k 2 weeks ago, but that did not include the USSF numbers. Lets hope they are better than this as we need a sellout to get another games.

    Mexico one is going better

If there is someone I can forward my concerns, please let me know. Whether it is with FCD or USSF. My personal vested interest is to make sure we sell it out so in the future, we can have more USMNT games here in Frisco. I am getting borderline pissed about how this game is being sold versus the Mexico game.

I am not expcting a sell out for the USA v Guat game.

I woudl if there were any advertising behind it. But since the USSF doesn't seem to care too much...Its just hard to know what there priorities are thru their actions.

Which really sucks because, despite selling out MLS Cup, Interligia and Mex-Ghana, the USSF will use that against PHP in future venue decisions. Asshats.

Is Ruiz slated to play for Guatamala? That may give the game a little boost in ticket sales, there should be some excitement around him after today's announcement. He will 'belong' to FCD now instead of the loaner deal of last year. Interesting that FCD was able to make the Ruiz thing happen when LA gave up on him, big props to Hitch.

Ruiz wasn't listed on the callup list published by the Siglo XXI newspaper yesterday.

But reportedly he's been talking with the Guat coach about playing. I'm sure they'll get him on the roster.

Could one reason be the time? It's easy to make a 2 or 3 pm Sunday game, but for those of us that live in actual Dallas (where FC Dallas should be based!) and go to Church, 1 pm is less than desirable.
