This is starting to sound like a broken record http://fc.dallas.mlsnet.com/MLS/new...ntent_id=51849&vkey=pr_fcd&fext=.jsp&team=fcd
You would think it has to be Ruiz. If rumor is true, he is already in town and could be at the press conference. It's hard to imagine a press conference for an unknown foreign signing who would not even be there for photo op.
DMN reports it will be Carlos Ruiz. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/soccer/stories/020906dnspofcdlede.af241cc.html
Whew...good news! Sounds like EJ is on his way out then for sure(the plot thickens). With Ruiz intact (fingers crossed) and Greame Souness finally out of the way for Newcastle (a little unrelated), I can finally kick back and comfortably rest in overwhelming, excitement and anticipation for April 1st. Thx TXaggie!
I though it was clear after my story on Monday it would be Ruiz. as for Wollf for EJ, Clarke says no. *shurgs* but it's popped up a couple other places. That wouldn't help cap though.
But the only thing that would help the cap at this point for you guys is EJ leaving right? How much does Vanney make?
well no. ROB could leave, so could Simo... Mulrooney... yes Vanney would help and might be enough. So would a major allocaiton I think... if they can get one for some combination of players perhaps. Hard to know.
One has to wonder if it is true whether EJ is on his way out as we have too many fowards that are in need of playing time. It would now make sense for a trade with the Metros, but the cap problem would still be there. At least there will be tons to dicuss and think about.
For the love of all things good and Irish...... please let it not be ROB. FCD need the spark of this good man. Move Simo (although I would hate to see it) and Vanney, and a few of the other average fellas (not that Simo is ave.), but for the love of the game NOT ROB! Not that I'm biased or anything.......
he's probably dressing like a little school girl and trying to track down Ruiz's home address for a late night visit
Well, sort of. Even if we keep all the forwards on the roster, EJ's gonna miss half the season with Nats camp and the World Cup. Or someone might get injured and/or we play the 4-3-3 again. It is a little crowded up top, though, that's for sure.
they could move Ruiz to keeper to avoid from being too crowded up front Can you imagine what Ruiz's reaction would be when he was scored on by a player obviously offside, or when one of his defenders make a key mistake that led to the goal?
can someone run over how trading ej for a major allocation works? I understand that it takes his salary off the books and can be used to cut down others, but does it still keep FCD in line for a major player if they want? Or does using it as cap relief then take it off the allocation list, and thus they basically traded ej for money?
Using the allocation to knock down, say, Ruiz's cap number would take it off the list and remove the possibility of FCD acquiring another player with that allocation. Which is fine since we can't afford to add anyone anyway. So, yes, they would basically be trading EJ for cap space.....not really money, but similar in a way.
