Can someone pls tell me why? As much as I am excited about the signings of Diaby and Walcott, the earliest these players could make a significant impact is probably in the 2nd half of 06/07 season. Are we giving up on our current season by not signing big players(replacement for Gilberto) as our 1st team line up is technically still the same as the start of the season? How are we going to show our ambition to Henry? There's still the Champions League and FA cup to be won.
You also have to ask, when has that been his M.O. to bring in immediate impact players? Anyways, I think he feels he has the players he needs. We've had an unfortunate injury bug all up and down the lineup this year but we're still within a breath of a CL. As the team has been getting healthier the results have been getting better. I can't think of an "impact" player he could have brought in that wouldn't have been cup tied already for the CL.
I am not going to bitch about the team. Lets all try that for one day. I am happy with the 3 players.....2 1/2 that we got. It should be enough to get the old school boys in gear.
An old bull and a young bull stand on top of a hill. In the field below there is a herd of cows. The young bull says "let's run down there and fvck one of them!", the old bull looks at him and says "no - let's walk down and fvck them all" Patience grasshopper.

Wenger believes these players will make an immediate impact. Diaby will be on the bench against Everton and he said Walcott can challenge for a first team spot. And Adebayor has enough experience.
Anyone who subscribes to the idea that splashing tons of cash on a single player will suddenly win us the CL or anything else is simply out of their damn minds. 1. If such a player exists, he would be the subject of intense interest from every major European club and would easily exceed our likely cash available once a bidding war erupted. 2. What Wenger has done is completely rational and sound. He has bought solid players with a lot of potential for reasonable prices (even Walcott, given the level of interest). 3. Wenger fundamentally believes in youth potential (he has succeeded over and over and over and over again in this regard). Also, he believes that it takes players 6 months to acclimate to the Prem - too late to make an "immediate impact". Frankly, if ppl want to start this topic, they damn well better cite a good transfer target who would be within our reach who is not cup-tied and wouldn't overly constrain our wage structure. Until then, go bleat about immediate impact players in a small corner.
all excellent points. i wish we could bolster our MF position to help us in the CL and FA, but who?? anyone that is mentioned at this point of the January transfer window is completely overvalued.....the 3 signings does follow the trend of arsene signing younger players, but you know what, 8 straight 1st or 2nd place finish in the prem. is a pretty good track record....faith!!!
Why is it there are people on this board who can't stop bitching! Arsenal just signed the hottest prospect in England and still there are people who have to complain and bitch. Just shut up with all the bitching and if you can't take a rebuilding period for one year go ********ing support chel$ki like all the other frontrunners.
