We already know Musa Shannon is, did anyone else notice C. Debrito? Is this the same ex-Metro, ex-Crew player?
Nevermind- you are right, this is a 6-1 GK. John DeBrito was neither 6-1 or a goalkeeper. There is a Joaquin Alvarez though.
DeBrito actually played for us for a little bit back in 97. A name that stood out to me was Ryan Trout. He was really good in college but couldn't cut it with DC.
Here are the new names since the 11th Justin Bonura M Steve Danbusky D Carlos DeBrito GK Kelly Frederick F Rudy Lormil F/D Oleksandr Stakhis M/F Ryan Trout M/F Gabriel Valencia F and according to Dan R. Wojtek Krakowiak is now training with the team.
A) Ryan Trout never played or tryed out with DC. B) He was drafted in the 3rd or 4th round of the 2000 draft by Colorado but was cut. C) He has played the past 2 seasons in the A-League with Charleston. He had 8 goals and 5 assists last year according to the Battery's website. D) He was highly regarded after his first 3 seasons at Virginia but he had an injury-plagued senior year and his stock dropped. He wasn't completely healthy when he got drafted and that hurt his chances of sticking with Colorado. E) He has good size (about 6 feet), nice wheels and is a good passer. He played primarily right mid for UVa and with Charleston and while I think he's a long shot, I wouldn't be shocked if he clawed his way onto Bob's final 18.

Gabriel Valencia F - Came out of Cal. State Dominguez Hills, one of the best Division II programs in the country. Had 9 goals and 5 assists in 2002. Had 12 goals and 3 assists in 2001.
Saw Trout play for Virginia in Giants Stadium a couple years ago for some college invitational coupled with an MLS game (I think I saw 3 or 4 games in a row that day!). I had heard his name as an up-n-comer before that, and watched out for him. He played aggressively, and quicker than a lot of others (not so much speed as speed of play), and wasn't the type to get muscled off the ball much when coming up the wing (he was playing primarly on the left wing that day), but I didn't walk away with the overall impression that he'd make it in MLS.
Was Trout with Colorado,......for some reason I thought it was Columbus. I recall reading somewhere that the word on Trout was that he lacked the foot speed for the pros.
trout, to my knowledge, has trained only with the rapids, as he was drafted by them, as sandon pointed out, in 2000. maybe you're thinking of jason moore, who trained with the crew before signing with chicago last season.
