I'm predicting a Valuev victory by TKO in the last rounds, i hope i'm wrong cause i want Ruiz to win, versus the 2.13m Russian

Why would you... why would anyone want to see Ruiz win?
Hell, I'm half Puerto Rican and can't stand the guy or his fight "style", whatever it is.

It's a tough question, and i know that the ricans don't like Ruiz "The Huggy Bear" cause of his style, because he doesn't fight like a Puerto Rican warrior, people say he will be better suit for MMA like UFC or stuff like that.

But c'mon Valuev, another Carnera?, i respect him just because he is a boxer, but i don't want another circus freak around.

You gotta respect Ruiz, who would have tought when he was KO'D by Tua, that he will be around in heavyweight scene in 2005, an as a Champion, he's like a "cucaracha", it does'nt matter what you will do to him, he will always be around.

And what about the Donald fight, Valuev almost lost to him...... and Ruiz is way better than Donald so do the math.

Now that i'm typing this, i had got a feeling that maybe Ruiz kockdowns Valuev with an overhand right.

On a side note, El Tarvieso Arce won yesterday versus Adonis Rivas, i can't believe that they show for free in the US (Azteca America), and here in Mexico is in PPV, the mexican americans are lucky to have all this cards for free, like the last Telefutura fight with Abner Mares.

And Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. DRAW with Carlos Molina (8-1), i hope he learns from that fight.

I don't like Ruiz because I think he's a rough, dirty fighter. Not so much because he's not a warrior.
Pernell Whitaker is perhaps my all-time favorite and no way was he a warrior.
But I do agree that the sport can do without another freak. :D

Thanks for the info on JCChavez Jr. I hadn't heard that result.

Well Valuev won, from what i had read it seems like the fight should have been a DRAW, but we have to remember that the fight was in Germay

Why must we remember that? Valuev is Russian. The judges were from Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. It seems because Teddy Atlas and before him Max Kellerman and Roy Jones always say that Germany has corrupt judging that everyone seems to think that it is true. It is not the case. Teddy should especially know better since he took Michael Moorer to Germany and won a decision against hometown guy Axel Schulz in a fight most people thought Schulz won. Can no foreign fighter get a decision in the US because Lennox was robbed in his draw against Holyfield? There are instances of bad judging everywhere. Mexico? You only need to look at the "draw" that Baby Chavez got last weekend for one example.

Anyway, good riddance to Ruiz. I hope we don't see him or Stone again. I would rather see the Valuev freak show than jab and grab Ruiz.

Yes, in a month. January 28th on HBO against Thomas Damgaard. 1 week after Morales vs. Pacquiao 2. So it will probably be paired with the replay of the PPV fight.

Well, it doesn't matter if they had foreign judges, they are in German soil, and Valuev is the Hometown fighter.

I downloaded the fight, and yesterday i saw it, and yes it was close, but Ruiz won the fight, he was the champ and he deserved better.

BTW, Norman Stone went nuts at the end :D

So, what big fights would you all like to see happen in 2006?

    JTaylor - WWright

    Judah-Hatton

I see Morales-Pacquiao is in a couple of weeks.

Do we really need RJJ-Hopkins II?

And what are the chances of something good coming from the heavyweights?

I wasn't even aware that Judah fought this past weekend. Heard he lost a unanimous decision to an Argentinean fighter. :D
(I'm not a Judah fan at all)

I am not a Judah fan either so it was a good night. Surprised you didn't catch the card. Also had the unification fight at cruiserweight between Mormeck and Bell. Really good war between these two with Bell upsetting the odds and KOs a tired Mormeck. I was pulling for Mormeck but Bell plans to stay at Cruiser instead of moving to heavyweight so hopefully some good fights can happen. Anybody know anything about the WBO Cruiser champ Johnny Nelson? He has held the belt for a long time but I have never seen him fight. Baldomir really had Judah rocked in the 7th and holding on for dear life. Zab looked very poor in this fight. Baldomir is tough but shouldn't have been a problem for someone who says he is the greatest fighter in the world. After the fight Zab said blamed Don King for the loss saying he had to make too many appearances to promote the fight. Of course he then said "I ain't making no excuses but...."

Nelson is an old man, nearly 40. Very slick boxer but defensive and boring to watch. He has a big fight against Enzo Maccarinelli, if he wins then I think he may have 1 more fight then retire.

There are some very good fighters in the cruiserweight division these days.

Gatti is champion again. Very un-Gatti-like fight on Saturday night, he basically dominated from start to finish, and barely broke a sweat against somebody that was undefeated and ranked suprisingly high by Ring Mag.

Didn't watch the fight. Also didn't know there was a title at stake. Which belt did he win... or is that a stupid question that doesn't matter anymore?

What are the odds of a Gatti-Hatton fight taking place? They're close in weight, aren't they?

I think he got the vacant IBF Welterweight belt. He also broke his right hand - but still landed the knockout with his right :)

I dont think Gatti-Hatton is going to take place, Gatti has said he doesnt want to deal with Junior weights. He's got his eyes set on Baldomir, which frankly makes a lot more sense for him at this stage.

It was the IBA belt that Gatti won, not one of the major ones. The win does line him up for a shot at the WBC belt (and linear championship) which Baldomir holds.

    Lacy vs Calzaghe this weekend.

I'd be tempted to favour a prime Calzaghe to outbox Lacy for a points win, but his prime is maybe 2 years of hand injuries and wasted time behind him. Lacy is physically so strong and aggressive, he could well win this on TKO around round 6, certainly Lacy is the kind of fighter who would bulldoze any super middleweight less than 100% physically ready. Although if Calzaghe rises to the challenge then he may still have too much boxing experience and handspeed over 12 rounds.

    Should be an interesting fight.

If Calzaghe's hands hold up I think he will definitely win, against Evans Ashira he beat him one handed but Lacy has power.

Calzaghe has got such heart and chin that I can't see Lacy knocking him out. He showed that against the last "big name" American, Byron Mitchell when he was knocked down and got up to spark him out in round two.

I just hope Calzaghe's hands hold up.
