    Re: January transfer rumours

Apparently Moyes wants to give Sutton 25k-30k a week for about 2 years. The board tho are a little less willing to give in so easly to Suttons current wage demands having seen 30 something players sit on big fat contracts. My personal oppinion is that if hes past it why should we be interested in him. It would the kinda short thinking and panick buying that have stunted our progress throughout the premiership (Im not saying that of Moyes in terms of panic buys yet, that was more of a label towards Mike Walker and Walter Smith who can be labbelled of making plenty of panic buys).

If Sampdoria want Bent for 3m then let him go and put ome of that money into a bid for Gravesen.

The McFadden thing puzzles me. I wouldnt say he was a winger but hes lightweight for a striker in our system and to be truthful we might aswell sell him if were thinking of letting him go out on loan.

Up until his injury problems this season Sutton has still been a very fit player, I think he could handle 18 months in the Premiership. I also don't think he's the type to sit there and take the money, plenty players come to Scotland and do that but Sutton was here to win things. He is past his best but I still think he would have alot to offer, think Teddy Sheringham.

McFadden is too slow to be a winger and his crossing has always been a bit hit and miss. He has always played as a striker for Scotland. He has 24 Scotland caps and 8 goals, that is a good scoring record for any european national team and when you consider 8 of those caps was as a sub it looks even better. Personally I think he's always struggled to fit in the system at Everton and is probably better off elsewhere, he's not the player he used to be and isn't guarenteed a place in the Scotland team anymore. He's needs to be playing football every week.

If they want him for nothing I'll personally buy his plane ticket to Italy.

Dont be so ungrateful. The guy worked his bollocks off for us last season and was one of the main reasons why we ended up finishing fourth.

As i said if they wanna pay 3m for him then i would sell him but if they offer less i would refuse, we need a pacy striker but also a squad, what we gonna get for 1-1.5m thats worth getting? I like Jansen and would hope we move for him but i dont get y on this forum ppl seem to love McFadden yet have a real dislike for Bent

I have nothing against Bent. He's a very hard worker and it's clear he's committed to the cause ... something you couldn't always count on with Everton players in recent history. What use is there for a hard-working forward who doesn't score goals, though?

McFadden has hardly been better, true, but at least he's shown some semblance of form - albeit for Scotland. Neither one of them is an ideal option up top as they're currently playing, but if Samp wants to give us 3 mil for Bent, then vaya con Dios!

First off i owe an apology to blueroomforum. The reply i left to his post was unfair. I still stand by what i meant but i understand that the tone of the post went to far and for that im sorry, and welcome to the forum btw happy to see more blues.

I was trying to say that like many other ppl IF Sampdoria were to pay 3m (which they wont) then i to would sell him, i say just saying that to let him go for nothing and even paying for his plane ticket was a bit much.

On the Bent transfer speculation its gonna be a no go at the moment.
looks like its not going to happen.

Chris Sutton joins Birmingham City for a fee of 300k on wait for it 38k p/w wowzer they must be deperate to pay so far over the odds for him.

Weve been linked to two goalies today.

The first one is Francesco Toldo, apparently theve just signed another goalie so we might be interested but at 34 he might be getting on abit. Outside bet i think for this deal to come off.

More likely to happen is a player plus cash deal that would send Anti Niemi to us in exchange for Richard Wright plus some money (no figures have been talked about yet). I wouldnt mind seeing Niemi play for us but i wounder how much Wright is gonna be rated at in this deal. Ive heard that 3m would be enough to land Niemi so it would prob be 1m plus Wright i would think. Although Niemi is 33so maybe the same could be said about his age aswell but i prefer to see older players play in goal just maybe not this old if were gonna build for the future.

Here is a side-note on the goalkeeper front. Turns out that DC United's backup keeper (although many fans want him to be the starter...), Troy Perkins, is training with Everton for a couple of weeks. I am sure this is just a training spell, a la the Josh Wolff thing, and even though I think Perkins is a decent MLS keeper I do not think he is EPL quality by any stretch; there are far better keepers in MLS to choose from. Still, I thought it was interesting...

If Gravesen really wants to get more playing time, he should come back to Everton.

It's practically guaranteed he'd start every game here again.

At ManUtd, though, he's in much more danger of ending back on the bench for one reason or another.

    Re: January transfer rumours

Now that is a good point, but with all of their problems, I don't think they have anyone who is really better to play in front of him. But if it will bring him back here....

I can really imagine this midfield...

Van der meyde Cahill Gravesen Arteta
    That would be pretty awesome...

It'd look good for shizzle. :)

But I was thinking more like

    --------------Cahill--------------

    vdm-----------------------Osman

    --------Gravesen----Arteta------

    Re: January transfer rumours

That is news... but at that price I dont see why Man U wouldn't take him.

I agree that he would have a better chance of seeing first team action at Goodison, but honestly I don't see much competition at Man U either. If I were a Man U fan, I would fancy a Scholes/Smith midfield over a Scholes/Gravesen midfield. Scholes is the finesse, and Smith is the enforcer. Gravesen sort of lies in the middle of these two extremes. But a club like Man U needs a lot of depth, since they are competing in prem, cup and europe... oh..wait...scratch that

What I would really fancy is Man U buying Gravesen, then Everton dealing the Neviller II for old Tommy. Man U would effectively net the difference, we would get Gravvy back, and we could be free of II. Its a win-win situation.

Sorry but i dont get how ppl rate Smith as an enforcer in midfield. He isnt that great at tackling or as that type of midfielder. Hes to attack minded and more of a provider or creater than an enforcer.

I wouldnt get rid of Neville either, we need to increase our squad not reduce it, Neville has alot of experiance and has been at a winning club, granted he wasnt a first team player week in and week out but he gonna have picked up a few things from the top players and the coaches.

Not that good at tackling? I wholeheartedly disagree with that - he is way above average in delivering tackles. In my opinion, he was never attack minded enough to play at striker... I'm thinking once he gets his bearings about him, he won't play anything but defensive midfield for the remainder of his career.

I agree we need bodies, but Neville is crap. Every time we are down and in the last couple minutes, he starts sending long balls into the box over, and over, and over again. It frustrates me to no end.

There are other players that are out of the door before Neville. Weve payed 3.5m for him we wouldnt be able to find a buyer for him to pay that much. Its not worth makeing a loss on him.

On Smith tbh he wasnt good enough as a striker but for me he isnt gonna be that good at DM he might well play there for the rest of his career but when Fergie sees him as a long term replacement to Keane i carnt believe it. Smith will never be the player that Keane was.

    Re: January transfer rumours

Someone else (The Sun) has picked up on this....according to the football365 transfer gossip:

    ANELKA TO UNSTICK TOFFEES
Former Liverpool striker Nicolas Anelka is set for a stunning move to goal-shy Everton, according to The Sun. Anelka, who would set David Moyes back about £5m, said recently "In case of a departure, I would like to go to England". Anelka, who has played for Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City as well as Everton's local rivals, is seen as an ideal strike partner for James Beattie, although Everton may struggle to match his £50,000 a week wages...

I agree that this is unlikely, given the wages. Plus, if our history has shown us anything, once there is a sniff of a rumor that we are targetting a big-name player, somebody else will offer more and swoop him up. It is sad but we are just a bargaining chip...
