Reading with their (more or less) standard line-up. Same back four. Harper and Sidwell in the middle (Convey and Little on the wings, of course). Kitson and Doyle up top.
Somewhat of a surprise, but Cardiff have come out on the attack in the early minutes. Would like to think that would (eventually) play into Reading's strength.
Reading now coming into the game more and get their first corner (but does not come to anything). A good bit of action in the middle of the field.
Marcus with a good save on Lee, who was in on goal following a deflected ball. Immediately on the other end, Sidwell scores for Reading. How many times has that happened this year? 1-0 Reading...
Reading still on the attack, with Little and Convey the culprits (as usual)...a fair bit of switching and overloading from the two of them.
Corner to Cardiff...first time they have had any pressure in Reading's half in a while. 18 mins. gone...
24 mins gone. For the most part the game at the moment seems to consist of Reading attacks, followed by a blasts upfield from the Cardiff defense to relieve the pressure, following which Reading recovers the ball and comes back on the attack.
30 mins in, still 1-0 to Reading. Marcus still has only had to make the one save, that turned immediately into a goal at the other end. All Reading in the midfield...
First half winding down... At the moment, the linesmen are slowing down Reading more than the Cardiff defense is (perhaps unjustly at times). Sidwell with a strong shot that is saved.
Something of a scramble in the Cardiff box that results in a Kitson chance that is (somewhat miraculously) saved.
Half time. A pretty dominating performance by the Reading midfield. They seem to be playing with a real purpose following the (relatively) disappointing performance at Derby.
Kitson gets Reading's third, which can't have come as a surprise to anyone. Basically sloppy defending by Cardiff and Kitson cleans up the garbage. My guess is that Hunt and Oster will make their regularly scheduled appearance sooner rather than later.
Doyle just misses getting the fourth for Reading, then remarkably enough Cardiff actually manages to win a corner on the other end. Someone wakes up Marcus. BC then comes back with a nice run and cross that just misses Doyle. (Shouts of Ole, Ole Ole Ole, Convey, Convey.) Reading supporters in good form this afternoon...
Cardiff gets one back...Koumas feeds Jerome. Marcus got a touch to it, but couldn't keep it out. 3-1.
Cardiff with another chance. Koumas moved into the middle a little while back and Cardiff have been doing much better since then. Or maybe Reading just figured the points were in the bag and let up...
Reading ends the suspense as Sidwell gets another, now 4-1 to Reading. Must be at about the 70 minute mark, as Hunt has come in for Bobby.
