Someone told me that fcum is a left-wing commie club. Is there any truth to that claim? I seriously doubt that's true. Maybe some of their fans perhaps.

It's looking good. They lead by 13 points, but they've played 3 more games than the 2nd place team.

I post the updates on another message board weekly. I'm a voting member of the club. They currently have a solid lead, great starting supporter base and have actually signed a some former reservists for Manchester United.

Check out their site, there's much more there now than ever before.

ITS WAS AN AWAY GAME GROUND ONLY HOLDS 2,200
game was made all ticket offical attendance was 2,025 i think
fcum are getting crowds of around 3,000 for home games, not
bad considering the thats most clubs in the same league are
lucky if they get over 100. see match report below..

We were lucky to get a point - Marginson
FC United’s promotion hopes suffered a setback as Flixton struck a controversial equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Valley Road. Winsford closed the gap to 11 points in the league after beating Eccleshall 2-1. They have three games in hand over FC, though the two teams meet in a January 2nd crunch match at Gigg Lane.
A crowd of 2,050 saw Aidie Orr strike the reds in front halfway through the first period before the home side took control. Barry George was tested on several occasions and was forced to make a fine double save in the six yard box. Then after the break, Flixton hit back with a goal FC United boss Karl Marginson claimed was three yards offside. Fortunately for Marginson, the linesman ruled a second Flixton goal offside and poor finishing prevented the hosts from going in front. United themselves were denied a chance to grab a second when Rory Patterson went down in the box.
Patterson went through one-on-one with the keeper before a Flixton defender made the tackle and Patterson went down. But the referee waves away the protests and allowed play to continue.
Flixton’s Steward Walker was sent off for an appalling late tackle on Steve Torpey and both teams hung on for the draw.
Afterwards, Marginson said: “I was pleased to come here and get a point having played so poorly.
“Over the past few weeks we have been brilliant, but today they fell well below the standards they have set themselves.
“There have been a couple of decisions that have gone against us, but it would have been a travesty if we would have got three points today.
“The penalty on Rory [Patterson] was absolutely stonewall and then the linesman’s decision for their goal when [the Flixton scorer] was stood three yards offside, but you can’t complain. These things even themselves out over the season.”
He added: “Flixton were the better team. We just didn’t perform or string three passes together all game.
“I don’t think it was a case of switching off, we just didn’t get back quick enough to defend.
“[Before the Winsford game] I will be reminding them about that performance today. They’ve got to go out there and earn their shirts.
“Not one of them today can turn round and say they have made that shirt their own.”
Flixton boss Paul Wright said: “I thought we should have had three points. We were the better side.
“We will just keep going. We have not lost in seven and we will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
“I would like to wish [Karl Marginson] all the best for the New Year.”

top of the table clash, match reports to follow on monday
    02jan around 7pm (gmt)

Winsford game or otherwise known as Big Coat Day.

As you are all aware, Winsford United are our next opponents in the top of the league clash at Gigg Lane.

The day has been nicknamed Big Coat Day. It’s our day to welcome back FC United of Manchester into a brand New Year, we have defied the critics, (hence Big Coat) were still here and we intend to still be here in 2007 and beyond.
Big Coat Day is all but a name, what matters on the day is us the supporters, our banter, our songs, our colours, so bring your flags and scarves, or buy a flag/scarf on match day from outside the ground.

As you know, the highest attendance at an FC home game was on the Utd Utd day, but this was due to a television programme and the friendship invitation to big united fans to give FC a sample.
This time around, there is no television programme, and its purely about FC United of Manchester but lets all do our best, to break that attendance record, or get as close to it as possible. Let it be a wall of jocularity and song as never heard before at Gigg Lane.

There is a rivalry between us and Winsford and this rivalry needs to be kept good natured, well humoured with original banter. There has been murmurings in the pubs leading up to this game, that we should welcome Winsford to hell, LETS NOT, because we are better than those so called Turkish football supporters.

    Some info about Winsford.

Did you know that the Winsford players don’t get paid for playing football, that they only receive a win bonus? (though I am wanting their players to miss out on the win bonus for this Monday, for obvious reasons).

Did you know that Winsford allow accompanied kids into their matches for free?

Did you know that Winsford have a selection of their own merchandise, a scarf, badge, hat?

Winsford are a club from Cheshire, who are doing they’re up most to survive as a football club.

Big Coat Day belongs to FC United of Manchester and its supporters to bring in the new year of 2006, let us do it in style and welcome Windsford in true sporting fashion on Monday.

    fc united 2-1 winsford
    record att 4,328

Second-half sub just the tonic for trailing reds.
A Rory Patterson substitution inspired FC United to a thrilling 2-1 win over title rivals Winsford. The 21-year-old forward came on to grab the winner after Simon Carden equalised for the reds in an action-packed second half. Just six minutes after the break, Winsford’s top scorer Rick Arnold put his team ahead when FC United shot-stopper Barry George failed to collect the ball on the edge of his area.
But Carden was there to tap in from close range 13 minutes later, setting up a thrilling finale. Enter Patterson, who was first to react when Winsford ‘keeper Craig Clare hit a goal kick poorly. Patterson kept his cool to finish past Clare, though his over-exuberant celebration in the Manchester Road End earned him a yellow card.
The first half was more of a scrappy affair, though both teams went close on several occasions, with the home side having a goal ruled out for offside. The win – before a record attendance of 4,328 - leaves FC United 14 points above Winsford, though they have three games in hand.
After the game, FC United manager Karl Marginson said: “I thought we showed character [to come back] because the chances that we created, we had battered them to be fair.
“You sometimes think it’s never going to go in, like we’ve had the offside one.
“We kept going and then Simon [Carden] did what Simon does and then it was a great finish from Rory [Patterson] as well.
“[Josh Howard] was brilliant, but I wouldn’t really single anybody out for praise or criticism. I thought it was a really good team performance and they all worked hard.
“[Patterson] is a quality player so to have him on the bench, he gives you another option. He is pacey and you have seen today he is a big-game player.”
He added: “It’s another three points because we’ve got Darwen next so if we don’t go and get a result there, today’s result won’t mean as much.
“But today was a big game because Winsford have been showing they can keep pace with us and that they are a good, organised, young and fit team.
“That’s the best atmosphere I’ve seen. I’ve been involved in some games with 15,000, but that was just awesome.”
Winsford United manager Dave Twite said: “I thought we worked really hard today, but I’m disappointed we didn’t get anything.
“[FC United’s] second goal came from the only mistake our ‘keeper had made all day, but he took it well.
“We’ve got some big games coming up. We can still win [the league].”
