If not for a bad call in 2002, the USA would have beaten Germany and probably would have been in the final against Brazil. Yes the USA has a tough group, but if they can get through Italy( who I don't think are that good anyway) and the Czech Republic, both of whom are in the top twelve in the FIFA rankings, then who knows maybe it will be their year.
Welcom to Bigsoccer, let me show you around a bit. My guess is that this will be your favorite thread, have fun. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=180
Argentina-Brazil is certainly a possible final. It would really annoy the Europeans and cause a lot of deep Euro-worry, hand-wringing, and self analysis. I hope you haven't put a lot "Uv" money on a Germany-Holland 3d Place match, since I believe it is impossible under the system set up for the knock-out rounds. It is quite possible they will meet in the quarterfinals, however. Uv ?
Oh yeah. This is like, so the US's year. We're gonna beat Brazil in the last 16 (why yes, I am insane, thank you) and then go all the way! GO US!
It is possible, if either Holland or Germany (not both) will be second in their group... I wouldn't bet any money on it either though, cause we're gonna win ofcourse
Considering you would have still had to score the resulting penalty to even draw level with Germany (assuming that the ref viewed it as intentional handball) how do you extrapolate this to you actually beating the Germans?
Before the draw was ever made it would be a big accomplishment to get out of the group, considering the US have only won one match on European soil in history. Now looking at Italy and the Czech Republic, it's an even tougher task. Granted I think Italy could be there for the taking, should be a very cagey match.
The way Brasil and England have been playing, and because of the players, it will come down to them in the final.
i'd like to think the U.S. has a chance to make a run, being an american, but that is ridiculous. If it were asking who you want to win, then i can understand why the U.S. would be doing so well in the poll, but they have no chance in winning. The funny thing is some are saying the Czech Republic have a chance to win, that's crazier then saying the U.S. will win as of their play lately. The Czech rely on Nedved. Bottom line is with how strong the top tams are, no underdog team stands a chance. It's between the powerhouses of England, Brazil, Holland, and Argentina. I gotta go with Holland.
I'm with you, I say Brazil is going all the way again. The 3 R's are going to be too much for the rest of the world. With Ronaldinho distributing the ball to Ronaldo and Robinho there will be too much field to cover. Of course I'd like to see the USA do well, but I am a realist. And as for all of you gents out there that think Portugal is going all the way, that's what they said last year, and look what the USA did to em. Either way, I can't wait.
dont forget the beast; adriano... i think he will have more chances than robinho... and also kaka of course...
If the US gets a win vs either italy or czech and ties the other they could take first place in the group and avoid brazil. If they win the group they will play someone soft and most likely make it to at least the quarters again.
