43' Confident play by Real, it's spread wide to Zidane who takes on two players before firing from the edge of the box, which Arnau saves... Corner...

thats it zizou, form is temporary class is permanent ........ old cliche uve all heard it ;)

You can only play Becks in the middle in this formation where Guti and Ramos are playing. Thats if he stops trying to force his passes.

He can't do what Robinho does as a winger.

im hoping that the way the new guy sets the team out is such that they do not rely on ronnie as much

    End of first half.

It would be nice to see Gravesen for Guti.
The whiny blond isn't doing anything :D

I am a bit shocked that Guti has been in good position defensively.

I thought with Ramos occassionally taking off upfield we might get burned with Guti at the back.

yeah i agree, gazzad, if we don't need Ronaldo to score every game , we will be much much better off. The team was massively dependent on his ability.

I think Ronaldo is not really fit. I'd like to see Soldado on for him.

You guys should totally do a player ratings thread after this. I never get to see the games and it was always cool reading what you thought about the performances of all the players.

There's no need for that if the three men behind Ronnie do their job and Guti can remain deep distributing, which are probably his orders for today.

Finally some good wide play by Robi and ZZ, going from the wing to the area in daigonal.

If we are sticking with the winger system, they might have to buy both a LW and a RW this summer, just in case someone gets injured.

Robinho can play either side and ZZ is practically retired. That way we would have Robinho plus 2 other wingers to cover 2 positions.

was putting up the xmas tree, so I missed the first part of the first half.

One thing that's quite surprising is the change in mentality of the team. Malaga is a team that plays quite physically and doesn't give Madrid much space. Kind of like Celta and Espanyol. Luxa's Madrid looked pathetic against that kind of opposition, but today the team is showing some mean fighting spirit. It shows that Casillas is actually the least confident part of defense today (yes, Pavon has had a god game, and Sergio Ramos is everywhere. Forget P. Garcia. This is the best signing of the summer).

Looks like the offensive third is still in some trouble -- maybe some more battling in midfield would be useful -- i.e. Gravesen for Zidane, maybe Baptista who's doing OK but still a little MIA.

And what the hell, maybe Soldado for Ronaldo. Soldado is much hungrier and runs around putting pressure on the goalie and ball-carrier up front.

And like the commentators are saying, it's tough to imagine Beckham fitting in anywhere in this team except maybe in Guti's spot. I have a feeling Lopez Caro will be benching him next week if the good play continues into the 2nd.

EDIT: Oh yeah. 43rd minute -- touch of old-time for Zidane. Thought that player was long gone.

Yeah, Becks can only play where Guti is..but I am ok with that.

Guti and Becks can cover that position and they can bring in Graveson to defend late in games to go with two defensive players in the middle.

Caro is going to have problems with injuries. If Robinho goes down we have no wingers at all. He might have to go with Diogo or Cicinho the odd game up there. Cicinho I believe is going to be converted into a winger.

So does Caro continue after December as coach?

If he can win the Osasuna game, they will have a hard time not letting him continue.
