With the exception of the 2003 Gold Cup (in Mexico) every knock out tournament Mexico has participated under him, we have either failed to advance out of the group stage OR fail the very 1st game after the group stages. We are not better off than we were 4 years ago or 8 years ago... and quite frankly... how can anyone say that we are when we have 2 naturalized players

Brazil also barely qualified for the '94 World Cup....and did sh1t in the '93 Copa America.... I forgot to mention that part.. . Now unto the Lavolpe debate no. 215 In the words of Mosco; "I agree" with both Jmarquez and LMvCP !!! While I am not too convined about Lavolpes coaching style I can not deny the fact that the MNT has made history with him at the helm. The away victory over Costa Rica, the win over Argentina and defeating Brazil at the Confeds cup have all set precedents for the Mexican National team. However; like LMvCP states Lavolpe has had the most support from the FMF than previous coaches. Most of the conflict that Lavolpe has he has created himself; he is victim of his own agression. So with the exception of three wins; which didnt really help Mexico win any tourney; on the larger scale Lavolpe has not done anything that the MNT hasnt been able to do in the past; the wins against complicated opponents just made Mexico seem better than they were.. We beat Argentina for the first time in fourteen years but crashed against Brazil like we had not done so in over ten years; Uruguay gave the Seleccao a thougher challange. A second round in Copa America is nothing to be proud of, not even wining the group; been there done that. The victory over Costa Rica was great, good pay back for the Azteca debacle, however Mexico still failed to win the WCQ Hexagonal and we lost the series against the only real competition; the USMNT; who scored their first ever goal at Azteca stadium. The win against Brazil opened many eyes, but we have beaten Brazil before. Beating them in a neutral venue made the win better than any other win before. However Mexico still lost their most important match ups of the Confeds Cup, against Argentina and Germany; and at the expense of Chivas de Guadalajara glory in Copa Libertadores; Lavolpe sacrificed alot for very little. Anyways, What worries me most about Lavolpes Mexico is that el Tri has not been able to defeat European teams, not even B' teams. not even Iceland in Los Angeles. And with the WC being held in Europe i expect the Euros to be at their best; hence i dont feel confident about the MNT if they are to face a squad like Switzerland..

Anyone has the right to hate LaVolpe all they want. With good reason, but to be so pessimistic before anyone has even kicked a ball is not bieng a good fan. I don't like LaVolpe at all. Other than the two Naturalizados, the team has had some nice victories and in tournaments has performed much like they always have. Out in the knockout stages. Hope for the best and expect the worst. Seems you hope for the worst and expect the worst. We don't need people who are hoping we lose on our side.
