I'd like to see Widzew Lodz back in the Ekstraklasa...

How does it work, top 2 get automatic promotion and third has a play off or..?

The top two teams in the II Liga get automatic promotion into the OE, while the third team goes into a playoff with the club which finished 14th in the Ekstraklasa. As far as I know this year only one team gets automatically relegated from the OE due to the merger of Lech Poznan with Amica Wronki.

Of the 20 teams in the II Liga, the 5 listed below have the best shot at promotion into the OE at the present time.

Yep, starting to look like Widzew will take the top spot in the II L, and gain promotion into the OE, however, it is a bit too early to tell whom Arka will face in the playoff. Teams from 2nd to 7th are within 4 points of each other and with 6 rounds to go, many things can and likely will happen.

Get serious! Widzew is in the Orange Ekstraklasa for a few months now :D Maybe they're not my favourite club but the league will surely benefit form Widzew's presence - another club with a rich history, from a big city (so a great fanbase) and an arch-rival which means two more high-emotion matches per season so two more occasions of getting a heart attack ;). Still I'm sure that like myself also all of you prefer the heart attack situations over some (no offense but take a sober look on this) dull sh1tholes, like Wronki, Grodzisk Wlkp. or another Polkowice with a average attendance below 2500 or even Leczna, Belchatow, Wodzislaw Sl. (of course uncomparable to the three mentioned previously - not this caliber of sh*tholes plus their fans are trying to do something, still - sorry but finding 7-10 clubs, which deserve playing in the OE more than they do, isn't a challenging task). To even start dreaming about creating a decent european league we need to have clubs like Widzew or LKS in it. Simple deduction: Fanbase + even an average capacity stadium + club with a history -> potential, attendance (here's where a sponsor comes in) -> income -> budget (here add wise managing/investments by the sponsor) -> another serious contender -> one giant step for mankind (or at least for OE).

Knowing that even a disaster won't stop Widzew from getting promoted, I really wish LKS and either of Jagiellonia, Slask, Zaglebie will be as well. Doesn't matter who as long as it isn't any creature like Hujawiak, Heko, Finishparkiet or of similar genre. Hope that in two maybe three years the switch (which has recently started, vide: once known Amica Wronki) will be completed and in another 10-15 (optimistic scenario) our league will finally look as it should - with clubs like theese above, and a few more who deserve it (like Ruch Chorzow or Lechia), profiting from the sponsors deals, ticket and hopefully merchandise sales (I'm talking serious here - like the clubs in strong leagues, the current situation in OE on this subject is a joke and whats worse this joke isn't even funny), having at least decent grounds (without hooligans, maybe even without ultras like in England - it won't be the same as for some it's a way of life, even more - it's essence, but we might be forced to pay this horrid price), youth systems providing them with talent, genueinly strenghtening their squads by attracting serious foreign players and being able to keep them by simply offering them a higher wage than 2nd Bundesliga clubs (recent casus of Warsaw's ex-idol Moussa Outtara - greed, no ambition whatsoever - pathetic) and finally start to be treated seriously outside Poland, with an ammount of respect their history entitles them to...

But hey I'm probably just an idealist, blinded by my dreams which keep me from seeing the truth and realising what is obvious - that my words are nothing more than babbling, that I may be insane, that it's impossible - not with theese people, not in this country ...

    Your thoughts?

How do the playoffs work for those in the lower end of the table? I am a Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biala supporter. Will they have to go to the Playoffs? Currently they are in 12th place on 39 points. I would think that is enough to keep them up another season.
