How do I really curl and dip a free kick or chipped shot? Some ppl have already asked but I think they are no so relevant to my question. How does Beckham take his free kicks? I can't make my free kicks lift so much. It always hits the wall. How do I lift the ball? How do I make a chipped shot?

A chipped or lobbed shot is what you get if you get your foot under the ball and don't follow through.

For free kicks... what part of the foot are you using to strike the ball?

    Say what????

If you're taking a free kick, you should be striking the ball with the upper part of your foot - either your instep, or depending on how you want to strike the ball a bit to the inside or outside of it. It's a VERY fundamental technique. You're not going to get anywhere by toe-punching the ball.

Now read through the other threads on shooting. If you're at least striking the ball consistently with your instep, then the other threads will be MUCH easier to understand.

Sudhan, thank you so much for these hilarious posts. You clearly proved to everyone that you do not have a clue about how to play soccer. You post the stupidest threads I have seen on these boards. "How to do Tricks Unconciously?" WTF?!?. Although you post here asking others "how to bend a free kick like Beckham, you are too ************in ignorant that reading a forum on the computer won't help you accomplish your goal. How many more stupid questions do you need to start a thread for? This forum used to be such a great source of info for players before the past couple of weeks when you started posting your crap here. Now practically half the threads here are your incoherent crap. You want me to let you in on a little secret on how to get better? How 'bout you get up off of your ass and actually play. For some strange reason I don't think Beckham and Henry became great by posting on a message board. I hate how one stupid fvcking newbie can ruin an entire forum, atleast for me. I'm going to take a brake for BigSoccer for a while. I'm fed up with dumbasses like you. Everyone else on this Player's board is awsome and extremely helpful. Props to you guys. Hopefully when I come back to BigSoccer, ideots like you, yes you sudhan, will be gone.

    PEACE

I am going to have to agree with soccerfan11 to an extent here.

If you have a question that makes sense fine, but come on man somethings you just have to figure out for yourself. I think you would accomplish more from just getting a ball, putting on your boots and working at develping your skills on your own then asking everyone How To questions.

I mean you must have a coach and teammates who you could ask as well, you seem to watch a fair bit of soccer from most of the questions you ask, just look at what the player is doing when dribbling or taking a free kick and then try it out your self, but I have news for you your style is going to be a little different from you favorite pros and might not produce results right away there for you must work harder untill you get it right.

When you said you had a mastery of you basic skills in one you your many needless How To posts, I found it then and still find it hard to fathom, because if you mastered those skills taking the next step should come naturally to you in terms of doing ball tricks or bending your shots around a wall.

You gotta live and learn a little bit and stop asking for everyone to hold your hand through life, I mean you did say you want to be a pro and thats great I am still trying to accomplishing that feat myself but I wouldn't make that decleration if I was you till you find out if you can do the things you keep asking others about.

I could understand you asking these questions if you were very young like 8 or 9 years old but I gather from your posts you a at least a teenage player, if you want to play pro you are far behind the other kids in your age group that WILL play pro if you need a walk through on every aspect of the game.

I still have a hunger for knowledge about the game and I seek advice from others who are better than myself at different things about how to improve myself but not in the manner you are going about it,I play with them and study the way they play the game then if something really confounds me like a ball trick or a wicked strike on a volley I ask them later to show me how they did it then i try it out myself.

You need to play with players of a higher skill level and learn from them if you want to get better all the typing in the world isn't going to make you the next Rivaldo playing is what's going to take you to the next level.

I am not as bothered by your posts as some people here who voiced their opinion and I am sure others are just being nice by not saying anything, but you need to give it a rest man really, your wasting peoples time and space by posting the stuff you put on here.

Thank you, soccerfan11 and Jc18star... especially for noticing sudhan's answer to my question of "what part of your foot are you using to strike the ball?"

I don't claim to be a brilliant player - after all, I'm a non-starter on a Division III college team that's had a 2-52 record in my three seasons... but I'm still constantly learning the game and improving my technique, mostly from playing against better players and PLAYING REGULARLY. (I do have a specialty - namely, long-range shooting and dead balls - so I offer what advice I can. Don't take me for some kind of soccer guru though. Anyway, I digress.) I'm sorry, but doing tricks in your living room isn't going to help you one bit in the real game - it's easy to look like Maradona when you're dribbling around furniture - and attempting bicycle kicks in your home won't do anything for you except leave a lot of broken glass on the floor. (Another obstacle to dribble around? That's just about the only halfway optimistic thing I can think of about broken glass.)

So what's this forum for? Yes, people do ask for advice. But you should try to work things out for yourself first, and then come here if there's something you're really stumped on. Look at how other people ask for advice. For the most part, people are showing up with very specific questions. The more information, the better. What can you do right now, and what's holding you back? What techniques have you tried for whatever it is you're trying to do? Finally... if you're looking for practice suggestions, wouldn't it be a good idea to actually practice?

While it's true Sudhan does ask a lot of questions, nobody's forcing you to read them. I can't see why it bugs you so much. If you don't want to contribute anything DON'T.

As for soccerfan11, your english isn't perfect either. Did it ever occur to you that his name "Sudhan" could mean he's from Sudhan?

So Elninho, not trying to be sarcastic, or whatever the word is I can't think of it at the moment, but anyways. What DO you suggest that we do if we cant practice with anyone? (Weekend not on the team) or if we cannot actually play against better opponents? (Besides highschool, which is now over) What kind of stuff do you suggest? This is a serious question, not a flame at you Elninho.

    thanks

Ignoring all the douches around here, try not to bend it like Becks, try to bend it like you. I know htat sounds stupid but the fact is everyone's mechanics are a little different so our approach to the same skills are going to be different.

With that in mind, take what's his nut's advice and go out and srike the ball repeatadly fro various angles and distances. I do ten from the right, shag em, and do ten from the left till I reach fifty...... do even more to get the hang of it because that's what I do just to stay sharp. Work on striking the ball first with the instep to get a perfect line drive, then work more with the inside curve, usually starting at the knuckle of the big toe..... but don't stop there.

The most wicked, severe spin comes from the amount of foot you can get on the ball before it leaps off of your foot. Work on exagerating you follow through.......... you won't believe how wicked the ball will move when you get it right, but first concentrate on hitting a target.... you remember that ten from the right, ten from the left thing? Well, eventually you want to hit ten from the right - aimed at near post, then ten from the left aimed at near post - then ten from the right again aimed at far post - and so on alternating you target area.

Oh and to get that nasty lift and drop motion on the ball, you have to create alot of top spin by yanking you follow through up as well as out....... don't worry about that though, I think Becks has the market cornered on that ability right now.

Oh and PISS OFF to those of you who don't want to help out!

Maybe he doesn't have access to the kind of help he needs, or maybe he is a little to shy to approach someone in person........... you all sound like soccer snobs to me. I asked a lot of questions when I was young and hungry to learn, and all I was told was how I'd never be able to do it. Many years later and a Pro career behind me, I can happily tell you all to STUFF IT!

Ahhhhh that felt good, think I'll fire my shrink now!

I too coach a team and love to teach and have no problem answering a players questions, but if you saw all of the posts and further responses this guy Suhdan has put up he is either over stepping his bounds as a player right now and needs a reality check or is trolling to piss people off

Man, you guys are just vicious. So what if he's not using proper form. Isn't that the point of these forums, to help people become better players. Apparently you have to already be an expert to use these forums, I must not have been informed of this when I joined.

Some of you guys need to grow up a little, and not bitch and complain about someone not being as skilled as you. Sorry, but everyone isn't awesome at everything. No one forces you to read his posts, so if you don't like them, then why the hell do you read them?

Also, you say that you'd expect those questions from an 8 or 9 year old. What difference does it make how old he is? I mean, c'mon, whether he's 8, or 80, beginner, or expert, he should still be able to get the same helpful tips and advice that the rest of us do, regardless of his skill level.

No one has posted anything bagging on anyone on this thread in like 2 months anyway so spare me the moral high ground. But while your on your high horse you might want to look down here and see some of the other posts the guy who started this thread put up, and you may understand why some people myself included were slagging off on him.

He was a "troller" or "flamer" someone who posts just to annoy and pester other people who really put useful info on these boards.I see you don't post here too often so you may not know about these type of posters but there are a bane to existence of the rest of us and do cause a little "bitching and complaining" from time to time.

I say we just let this thread die and no one else posts on it becaue I am sick of seeing it and I am sure everyone else is, plus there is a very similar thread already on this board.
