Best Player in CONCACAF right now??? Even though he does not get all the glory as an attacking player does. Rafael Marquez is as good as any defender in the world or even better.
Best Player in CONCACAF right now??? i agree... i think that another consideration is Gilberto Martinez
That's a good list, but I'd put Dwight Yorke after Marquez and Friedel. Yorke struggled early on, only to come on strong as of late. The other two have been awesome all season long.
Re: Best Player in CONCACAF right now??? He's good, but he hasn't shown as much as the above mentioned players. Not yet anyway.
I find it amazing that Yorke makes his way onto this list....as he is COMPELTELY overrated and is looking for a starting spot on the bench............ Right now, I would have to say its a two way race with brad friedel and gilberto martinez with brad in the lead by a bit.
Re: Re: Best Player in CONCACAF right now??? It says best player in CONCACAF right now so by definition Radzinski ranks ahead of McBride and Yorke. Now, if one were to limit the defintion of CONCACAF only to international appearances for one's country, then I think Radzinski has only played a couple of games for Canada and so would be excluded. In terms of overall play, there is no question that Radzinski is top five and certainly the current side by side between Radzinski and McBride at Everton bears this out. McBride is a useful, hardworking and honest player and I do not want to diminish his talents or contributions to Everton (never sneeze at goals) or the US national team, but he is not better than Radzinski, nor is Yorke.
Who is Gilberto Martinez? You guys are forgetting Julio Dely Valdes. Wherever he goes (PSG,Cagliari, Oviedo, Malaga), always becomes the top scorer for his club. He is surely better than any Concacaf player in the EPL. The Everton duo included.
Re: Re: Re: Best Player in CONCACAF right now??? I definitely think Radzinski is one of the top strikers from concacaf, but not one of the top 5 players. I don't think McBride is either. As to you assertion Radzinski is better than Yorke, I very much disagree. Not even on current form as Yorke has been banging them in lately too. Yorke had an excellent spell at ManUre. He scored loads of goals helping the team to several domestic and European titles. Radzinski scoring a lot of goals in the Belgium leauge, one good champions league season, and one good EPL season doesn't even begin to compare to what Yorke has accomplished.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Best Player in CONCACAF right now??? Obviously I disagree on Yorke and current form. I am not arguing that Radzinski has had a better career than Yorke, BTW, because I agree with you on that front. Your point was that Radzinski was not as accomplished as a list of players that Included McBride and Yorke, I pointed out that on current form Radzinski was better than two (McBride and Yorke). As for Radzinski being or not being one of the top 5, we will just have to agree to disagree. Because I can't think of five that I would accept as better.
What about Claudio Reyna? Do injuries count? And, I must say that I find few things wrong with Eddie Pope's game. These two players deserve consideration.....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Best Player in CONCACAF right now??? If we're talking current form, Radz has to be there. He's currently tied for 7th in the EPL scoring race, alongside Michael Owen, among others. Obviously Yorke has had the better career. At this moment I'd say McBride and Radzinski are the #1 and 2 strikers in CONCACAF, based on their form at Everton. Ask me again next week, and my answer may be different
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Best Player in CONCACAF right now??? Yorke is banging them just as quickly as those guys. He started out slow, but hadn't played 1st team football in while. He's scored 11 goals so far this season. About the same as Radzinski. Yorke has been doing at the top level for years while Radzinksi & McBride (both very good players) have not.
I would call it a tie between JOB and Marquez with Marquez winning right now because of JOB's current injury - when he's healthy, it's very close though.
Skills wise, I'd say J.O.B. (on form) Battle-tested, Reyna, Friedel Potential, Donovan I'd put Radzinski as my top striker, though. I love McBride to death, but he's got more heart and less talent than Radz, IMHO. Marquez is the man for defense, though. Rock solid.
This is an interesting topic that, perhaps, should be put to vote. Any poll has to include Costa Rican, Houduran and Jamaican nominees as well... Isn't Carlos Ruiz a Football Confederation player?
Gileberto Martinez is currently playing for Brescia in Serie A and has been named as one in the top 10 defenders in the league. He has been the only player in Bresscia to play all games this season. His team mates include Roberto Baggio and Pep Guardiola. There has been recent talk that AC Milan and Roma are interested in his services. Italian press have compared him to Maldini.
Don't forget Dely Valdes. He should be in the top ten, if not the top five. I can't speak as to Gilberto Martinez, but with respect to all players in England I think Brad and Reyna are as good as any Concacaf Players there. My vote (without Gilberto): 1. Brad 2. Rafa Marquez 3. Radzinski 4. Reyna 5. Dely Valdes As for Yorke, I think most managers would prefer Stern John because of his youth. By the way, I believe Shaun Goater would qualify as a Concacaf player.
My pick would be between Marquez and Martinez at the moment. Marquez captained Mexico at such a young age and has much more to come with links to clubs as big as Real Madrid. Martinez is a revelation in the Serie A and is ranked 7th among all the defenders in the league, beating out many other stars. He is currently linked with moves to ManUre, AC Milan, and Roma. He is expected to leave during the summer First, I think McBride is good, but hasn't shown his best even though he is in good form for Everton. Radzinski WAS in form at the beginning of the season since Wayne Rooney was becoming such a hit among the English and was fighting for a place. Now, Radzinski's goals have cooled down and hasn't scored much since a few months ago. I haven't seen Dely Valdez play, but he seems as a good candidate for the nomination Dwight Yorke is not in his best form and is not "racking them up" as he was initially expected. I would have said Friedel without any exception before Boxing Day since he was without a doubt in my mind the best keeper of the premiership (maybe alongside Cudicini), but now he has dropped in form but its most likely since Blackburn is not playing at its best Reyna is currently injured so I wouldn't put him up (or else I would have added Wanchope) Goater I believe counts and he is a Man City GOD. He is just a fans favorite since he does not care about himself, but only the team. He is good and just got the equalizer against ManUre. He is not a Premiership quality striker, but certainly deserves to be put ahead of Fowler alongside Anelka I think that's pretty much all I had to say. I haven't posted since the World Cup ended so I was anxious to speak my mind
