Well, yes and no. It hurst when you are booed by your own. The vary people that you represent when you put your NT shirt on. When someone that I dont know calls me an ass (happens all the time :D ) it does not bother me, but if my brother calls me that, then it hursts. Maybe its just me.

I can't stand Nuno Gomes for Benfica but when he plays in the NT, I cheer for him like crazy. Same goes for Petit, Simao or who ever else. Would you honestly think that any Porto fan would cheer on Figo toplay well?? NEVER, He can play great for Inter and I hope he does, just not against Porto.

Your absolutely right, you don't have to cheer, but don't have to boo either.

Then these are the same people, going on the news organizations complaining that when the NT played in their town Figo didn't sign any autographs.

I went to see Artmedia, and yesterday i went to Dragão to watch the match. I wasnt confident in our chances, mostly because i didnt think the coach could operate the necessary changes. But i really liked the line up!!

    Defense:
Cech - It was Adrianse who picked him, why hadnt he played yet?? He seemed pretty consistent defending, and will surelly be our left defender from now on. Left side problem - solved.
Center defenders - Have you guys noticed that with B.Alves and R.Costa, there were 0 ofsides of the oposing teams? Beside the compromising mistakes, there is the ofside aspect. The positioning is bad, and there is no voice of comand in the defense. With Pedro Emanuel the story is diferent. I just wish Jorge Costa would play with him because experience is much more important than speed, but i'll be happy with P.Emanuel and other at his side.

    Midfield:
Ibson and Lucho are both fantastic players, but none of them is a "trinco", so when they play together they mix up too much and there isnt a clear distinction of each one's mission in terms of atack, defense, and compensations.
Putting Paulo Assunção was a great call. He was the best player in the first 45m, defended great, recovered inumerous balls, and compensated the wings. I was very happy to see him in the line up together with Lucho.

    Atacking midfield:
Diego is a great player, and has a big margin of progression. But is he relliable in the middle of 2 solid strong midfielders? Probably he'll be all game being tacked and balls being stolen, beside taking too long to make the pass decisions. Either not playing with a number 10, or jorginho in his position are much better.

    Wings
Many options, and quality options. I hope Quaresma keeps playing like vs Inter. He was impressive, not only because of the atacking quality, but because he was consistent all 90m long (thing he usually isnt), and was sacrificing to help defending! Well done!

    Atack:
Hugo Almeida is fundamental. Even that he doesnt score goals, even that he misses chances. He wins every air ball that comes in his direction! Benny needs him at his side to have some space, and to go for the 2nd balls that H.Almeida heads to the direction he wants to, with total ease. I'd like to see lisandro playing as a striker too in the place of benny when he's out of form.

I'm very happy with the result. I think we can even win the other game vs inter, specially because it will be at closed door. And if rangers and artmedia draw the 2nd game, things will be even better for our side.

I'll be at Dragão for Porto vs Rangers!!

I will see him as the enemy, but I will not boo him anymore than I would boo anyone else on his team. Why not boo the other players. Why make an example of the Portuguese players that are playing against our teams ? Sorry, I just dont get it.

I can only speak for myself, but i will say that we see them as traitors. Somebody you love and have dear to your heart, plays against your team with the intent to defeat you, it hurts real bad!!! So at that moment they are traitors. We are always tuffer on our own because we hold them to a higher esteem.

C'mon Dr Phil, you should know this. :D

Then you should also know that the only reason that they are playing against us, is because our teams sold them in the first place. ;) Ball back in your court. :D

This has Pauleta Vs Nuno Gomes thread written all over it :D

They should come down with a sudden case of Bird Flue before the game, if they were good sports...or score an own goal!!!! I would take either one.

...eurodad you know where I stand on this one. Remember Wayne Gretzky? I couldn't stand him whenever he was playing the buds. I mean I used to call for his head, "hit em, ffs, don't let em park himself behind the net, he's got his head down..clock em". BUT, when he dawned the Maple Leaf I absolutely loved him. I wanted to jump through the TV and rip Suter's head off when he cross checked our national treasure into the boards from behind in 1991, knocking the Great One out of the Canada Cup and injuring his back which, was never the same after that.

See, that's how I feel about Ronaldo.

I know, Gretzky use to give me fits too. But here is the big difference ( the way I see it though) if you go by that, then we should boo big time every good player that plays against our teams, however, when was the last time that you saw someone in our league get that kind of boing ? Nope, that kind of treatment seems to be reserved for Portuguese players come home to play a game. Im not saying to like him when he faces us, I did not care for CR when he played against our team, but booing to the extent that Figo got ?

Benfica fans would of booed him even louader, only Sporting fans would cheer him on. Yeah we booed him even more than the other players but that's becasue we know how decisive he is and by boing him, he gets off his. game.

I think booing Figo has somethign to do with him playing for Sporting as well in his career...I mean, if Deco played against Porto, I wouldn't boo him...but if Rui Costa or Figo did I would because they used to play for Benfica and Sporting...

that's why these players get singled out...like if Cristiano Ronaldo played in Porto we DEFINITELY would single him out because we know and he knows he represented Sporting when he was in Portugal...its all in good fun anyway...its not disrespecting

...maybe they shouldn't leave the country ;) I'm sure the booing isn't all that bad, they get paid well to play a game. You know who I do feel sorry for is the guy that has to bust his nut just to make a living or even afford a ticket to the game in order to boo Figo. I don't feel sorry for Figo he's lived a pretty charmed life up to now. He's gone through worse besides you're always cruel to the one's you love :)
