The new season kicks off next week (Sept. 20).

I figured I'd start a thread as The Shield and Rescue Me have good followings here and I hope Nip/Tuck does as well.

I know a couple of things so far. Famke will be back. The hit and run incident will come back. A new doctor will help out. And we won't find out who The Carver is until the last episode.

I kinda wish the hit and run thing would go away. No complaints about Famke coming back. And an interesting theory I heard (though totally unconfirmed) about the identity of the carver:

    [result](copied from another forum)

    Sean is The Carver.

Sean is the only victim of The Carver who was not raped. His slashing missed major facial nerves, damage that had made the other attacks hard to repair.

It's established that Sean frequently hallucinates. Last season he
argued with a dead woman's head during his recertification. This
year, his Kimber "real doll" came to life as he explored its three
orifices. In the Finale, he engaged in fantasy involving knives, guns and his drug lord nemesis Eduardo Escobar.

Was he also hallucinating in the Finale when we "saw" him get into bed, handgun at the ready, awaiting The Carver?

We've seen split, multiple personalities on the show before. Sean
even asked one patient's child split-personality "Sassy" how to
develop his *own* split personality, and hide beneath it!

Did you notice that Sean persuaded the police, who had been sitting vigil inside his home, to wire up cameras and vacate the premises -- purportedly so he could "trap" The Carver?

Convenient, if he's The Carver! It enabled him to slip out that night to attack Christian. (The field of view of the cameras was obviously limited, and Sean knew where each had been placed).

Imagine. Sean is on the local TV news playing the brave hero,
standing up to The Carver, when he is The Carver himself. Brilliant
    -- and mad.

Sean has probably suffered a severe breakdown, between his
shattering-in-slow-motion marriage to Julia, the loss of his beloved Megan, Eduardo Escobar, his non-parentage of Matt, and Matt's affair with an (oh-so) surgically enhanced middle-aged "woman" Eva.

"Beauty is a curse on the world".

Plastic surgery -- and "beauty" -- are at the center of Sean's life
    woes.

As a plastic surgeon, he never had the respect of his wife, whose
opinion matters to him the most. Plastic surgery reinvigorated
Megan's cancer and killed her. It brought the rapist of Escobar's
daughter to their doorstep. At Sean's hands, plastic surgery
    brutalizing Escobar's Colombian girls.

Christian's "beauty" attracted Julia -- and the resulting pregancy set Sean's life on its course, and enshrouded it with deception. Eva's "beauty" -- discovered to be even more unnatural than even Sean had suspected -- took Matt away from him in ways not even the truth of his parentage could.

If Sean is The Carver, look at how far he had to go, just to get Julia to tell him -- for the first time in her life -- that she admires him and his work! That Julia ... she's a piece of work.

Was attacking Christian the culmination of all of this -- with the
most ironclad alibi imaginable? Destroying Christian's "beauty"
without even *Christian* (let alone the police) able to conceive that he'd done it?

I don't believe Sean is conscious of what he's doing. Not yet. Will
Sean figure this out on his own?

It's more likely that Christian will realize that Sean is The Carver.
Christian might even escape injury, somehow, in the cliffhanger, and unveil Sean.

Will Christian convince Sean to seek treatment and *keep* *quiet* about what he's done? Christian would be saving his *own* behind, of course, along with his friend's.

Whatever happens, can you think of a more profound deepening of the relationship between Sean and Christian -- known to be the focal point of the entire show -- than such a conspiracy of silence?[/result]

Dunno, just a theory, but a very interesting one IMO.

    Wow. Good first episode.

Probably the grossest surgery yet and some pretty dark stuff with Christian and the detective.

It's going to be an interesting season.

That was one of the grossest, smuttiest episodes yet. In other words, I loved it.

Let me put it on record now that I think Ava is the carver.

I taped the last weeks show and loved it.

Unfortunately, for some reason, it stopped taping and I missed the final 1/3 of the episode.

Can anyone give me a quick summary of what I missed?

    Looking forwards to tonights episode

    A short summary -

Momma ended up dying in surgery. Her husband thanked Sean and Christian for paying for the funeral but the blame him for her death.

Despite Sean's wife apparently considering getting back together with Sean, Sean says he agrees they should move on. Sean's wife's mom wants her to get as much money out of Sean as she can, Sean's wife is hesitant about a divorce lawyer.

Christian does the wild thing with the police investigator, his fiance walks in and decides to join them.

PS - has the show always been 1hr and a half? From what I can tell, tonight's episode will be 1hr 15 mins. I thought previous seasons were one hour episodes.

I just watched this weeks episode. Matt and the tranny really freaked me out. That was brutal. Not the best episode this week, but the next one looks better.

I'm just glad Matt got the crap kicked out of him at the end as I haven't liked him since the first season.

    OKay basic gist:

Starts off with Matt in the Hospital getting worked on by his dad (Sean) and the new doctor.

Sean and the new doc end up going to frat party they were invited to(they helped out the frat earlier when 2 pledges superglued their faces to anothers butt cheeks..) Sean gets drunk and gets a BJ from a Co-ed. The new doc walks in and stares at Sean and gets turned on. Sean gets tipped off that the new guy is gay, and leaves the party freaked out.

Christian and his gf (and her brunnette GF) invite the new doc for a 4-some. While they are hooking up, The new Doc grabs Christian ass and Christian freaks out. At this point the guy admits he is bisexual. Soon after Christian's GF dumps the GF (who also is a detective in the carver case)

The next day he overhears Sean and Christian making gay jokes in reference to him, and basically eludes to a practice crushing lawsuit re: gay coworkers. (In other words hinting that they should drop it or face legal action.)

lets see.... what else. In general Matt goes on a drinking binge and gets pills from Chistian who turns out ot be his real dad... Christina also admits to MAtt he banged Ava along time ago, which MAtt flips out over.
Sean and the X wife end up hooking up, which makes you believe they might work it out. Sean and X-wife get into an arguemnt with Christian re: the best way to handle matt. Sean/wife want military academy, and Christian wants medication....

Also, earlier in the show MAtt was recovering in the hospital and getting interviewed by teh detective (Christian's gf's gf). She digs it out of him that he got up by 4 trannies in front of Christian and the parents.
HE says he olny went to the Tranny bar to find ava

I was just able to watch that episode last night and it was good.

But sometimes I think they throw in stuff just for shock value and they try to push the sex scenes as far as they can on basic cable. I don't know if I could imagine what it would be like on HBO.

I have decided that for Halloween I am going as the Carver...

Not sure where I can get my hands on a cool voicebox like that though.

Every episode of this show leaves me thinking, 'WTF?'. I still like the theory that was pasted on the first page myself.

I'm starting to get into this show. There's a lot of over the top stuff but I'm intrigued by the Carver storyline, and any time that Kelly Carlson gets screen time, there's a smile on my face.

My opinion is that the Carver is the Anesthesiologist. I don't think it could be one of the main characters, that would basically kill the show after this season, it's got to be one of the supporting actors.

last night's episode was great; I feel that sean is the carver (that opinion does not come out of a spoiler or anything) and I totally didnt see the detective being the latest victim coming

I got that strange feeling last night also. They kept showing her with a strange eerie look on her face, off andd on throughout the show. Like they were dropping a subtle hint that you might pick up on...

The rape would be a bit difficult to explain then. It may be the new doctor, however. We know he's not averse to the gentlmen. He also seemed damn sure that Christian wasn't the carver.

I thought the new surgeon, but that seems too obvious. In other words, it makes too much senseto exist in the crazy plots and twists of niptuck :D

Yeah, the nurse MAYBE. Sean.....maybe but probably not. I was going to suggest last season that it was the transexual's son, but obviously it's not, as he's still in a room covered in maggots.

They're setting it up so that they can do a traditional "whodunit" in a dark library as the last episode of the season, and every time lightning strikes someone else turns up dead.

Right now I'm leaning toward Sean as the carver, if I had to place my bet today.

I was wondering, Did they ever catch DR Troy's father? I wouldn't be surprised if the Crarver ends up his Dad. This is my new theory because i was banking on it being the fake Brit who is bone'n DR Mac's wife, my theory was it was him and the Brit Detective so they could exact revenge on Dr Mac and Dr Troy for firing him, but after watching the previews for next week, that theory is not gonna happen.

From what I've seen in case studies on the subject, raping someone is not about sexual gratification, so I don't think the gay/bisexual thing would matter too much, it's about power and domination. And it's not too difficult to explain a woman doing the rape, use your imagination, I'm thinking of something you could buy at that dingy store in the run down part of downtown. It would actually explain why they haven't yet found any convincing forensic evidence (semen), other than the mistaken or planted condom with Christian's DNA on it last night. If it was real life it wouldn't really make sense for the Carver to be a woman since something like 95% of all serial killers are men, but this is basic cable.
