Another foul. On Alex. Looks like it's right outside the box. Seems like Alex himself wants to kick. Ze Roberto to be replaced by Juninho Pernambucano. Crowd's chanting OLE.
"... Dudamel com todo respeito vem um pepinaco pra cima de vc..." LOL I miss the natural humor and irreverence of Brazilian anchormen.
Looks like Venezuela nearly scored - is it "Torrealba?" If he scored, would this have been Venezuela's first official, FIFA "A" match goal on Brazilian soil?
Looks like Kaka missed a great chance from Robinho. JOvem pan's anchormen are saying that before the match, Venezuelan players had cameras and were taking snapshots with Brazil's players. LOL. This Dudamel is how old now? I recall his pathetic theatrics faking injury to kill time in Parque Antartica in the return match of the 1999 Libertadores. I also recall he was the first penalty kick taker and he scored on Marcos. He cried really hard after the last Deportivo Cali player kicked the ball out of bounds.
The referee invalidates a goal (by Kaka, I think) due, allegedly, to a Ronaldo foul. O juiz desmarca um gol (acho q do Kaka) porque falam que houve toque de mao (parece q involuntario) do Ronaldo.
I"m listening simultaneously (LOL) to Jovempan and to Cadena3. I can hear the Uruguayan crowds singing.
They haven't beaten Uruguay in 16 years !!! And last time they needed a tie and got a tie to get into the 5th spot. Do you think Conmebol will change the game order next time around ??? I prefer Uruguay as opposed to Colombia.
Alex passes to Roberto Carlos - a strong kick that goes out of bounds. The Uruguayans are chanting, clapping, and cheering. Cadena3 says it's 3 minutes to go. Riquelme has the ball. (I can make out Portuguese in the middle of Spanish and vice-versa) Cafu and Ronaldo - ball posseession lost. JOvempan's guys praising Cafu's longevity and endurance. Venezuelans have the ball... comes to nothing.
Estoyanoff has it for Uruguay, for Diogo - the Cadena3 guys are conceding defeat to Uruguay ("no queda tiempo para nada"...) "lo va a terminar el arbitro" (He is Brazilian) "Va a ganar Uruguay.... URUGUAY ESTA EN LA REPECHAJE SENORES!" AND BRAZIL IS THE WINNER OF CONMEBOL'S 2006 WORLD CUP QUALIFYING!!!!!
End of the match!Excellent presentation by seleção!!!!!And...Uruguay knocked the argies! We're the first As always!
Only because the first criteria, head to head results, are dead even - 3 to 1 in two games. We have a better goal differential and hence finish in first place despite both Argentina and Brazil having a total of 34 points.
Perfect night! Seleção wins by a comfortable margin, gets the first place in the SA Qualifiers (what a bonus!) and Charruas will have a chance to play for the 5th spot against Australia. We'll probably see the seven world champions in Germany. Brazilians played a lot better in the second half. He scored his 10th goal and ended as the top scorer of the SA Qualifiers. Robinho played very well and Alex had his moments. On a side note: congratulations to Venezuela! They played good football and Dida had some work to do in the second half.
There couldn't be a greater contrast between what we face now and what we faced 4 years ago. While it was the same score, to think that we had Luizao and Edilson executing the role of "savior" and that we were again against the ropes, forced to win the last match only 4 years ago shows how quickly and dramatically things can change in soccer. I recall hearing the live press conference Luiz Felipe Scolari gave after the win and said humbly that his work had been done with seriousness, dedication, and love. During the broadcast, Scolari said bluntly, "Emerson, Roberto Carlos. You weren't invited. What are you doing here?" These two apologized for the intrusion and said in front of all the reporters that they wanted Scolari to stay until Korea/Japan. Well, the apprehension is a distant memory. We have found awesome new players, we have a deep bench, an experienced if stubborn coach, and guys like Cafu, Ronaldo, and Roberto Carlos. Of course, we must work very hard and be sober and humble. But we have everything we need to win it all in Germany.
Did any venezuelan player surprised you? or did they all look like crap? What do you about Maldonado, Arango, Hector Gonzalez "El turbo" and Cichero?
