Did anybody see the MSG feed and did he show up on that? I would like to know what JP and Shep said or if they noticed him. I tuned into it a couple of times trying to catch their take of the game/misery.

I watched it on MSG, and Shep and JP loved it. They showed Christian up there many times. Shep and JP also commented that it should be all over the MLS commercials and DC marketing.

Not only was Gomito doing it, but it didn't seem like a "stunt." He was just up there having a great time. I can't wait to hear from people who were there with him.

MSG showed Gomez several times. They commented that DC, and even MLS, should make a commercial out of that shot.

Yeah, but they need to get him out of that Albiceleste jersey ... preferably into something black and white. Oh, well, at least it was adidas ...

C'MON!!! I can't believe you people not freaking out about how irresponsible the club is for allowing Gomez to sit with the fans!

Would you be talking about how great it was if Gomez got "drummers' elbow" and was knocked out for the rest of the year? I think someone should be canned for this! I shudder to think that he actually rode the bus up with the degenerates . . . canned cheese whiz, summer sausage, and Guiness can really mess you up on an extended bus trip . . . I know from experience.

This is why the reserve system was set up. Nana should have been in there chanting along with Nickel, Arena, V.Sicklen, and Merritt.

I was there. I was with the SE and the Barra.

    So was Gomez.

He was wearing black for much of the time, only near the end did he take off his sweatshirt and reveal the Argentina jersey.

I told him I'm Brazilian and I still love him. :D

    Best. Fan Experience. Ever.

You guys should of crowd surfed him like River Plate fans did when Cavenagi(sp?) was cheering with them after his transfer.

Thumbs up to Gomez for showing love for his team and respect for its ventilators. Great shot of him celebrating after Horseradish Tree Olsen's second goal.

Allow me to expand on my previous post...

I felt such a sense of pride knowing that Gomez was willing to come down to our Supporters Section and bang the drum. You just don't see that kind of quid pro quo from athletes these days. You maybe get a glimpse when college players are mobbed by fans who storm the field, but those same players are also classmates of the fans. The "Big 4" players are willing to recieve the accolades, but you rarely see something like we witnessed tonight. It gives me more of a reason to go out there and support United knowing that United is right there supporting us.

"They look like a Sunday league team" - John Harkes on the NY/NJ Metros.

    Thx,

    Jay!

    Gomez the magnificent!

Another picture they had on MSG was after the game and Dema stading in from of the Barra with his hands out wide towards the Barra and Gomez and the fans going wild!

For the folks there this must be a high point in their lives!

    Hey Robert!

That's just too cool! One more reason for me to be jealous of you, I guess.

On another board (totally NSR), I was bragging on this whole incident--best fans, best players, best team. You just don't see this, in any sport, ever. It's not as if there was ever any real doubt (still have and wear all of my original jerseys), but I bleed Black until the day I die!

Just got back from the trip what an awesome time. Yet again we rocked Giants Stadium like it belonged to us. Christian Gomez sat right behind the supporters section during the first half. Second half began and then there he was banging on the drum and singing...the whole second half. Then taking time to pose for many pictures and signing autographs. I noticed at the end of the game they were trying to interview Freddy at center field and he literally dragged the cameraman all the way to the end of the stadium where we were and just kept pointing at the fans.

Now it gets even better, once again we had the luck to run into the tam at a rest stop in Delaware. Dema came by and thanked us all for making the trip up...and Nicky was hoping somebody still had a beer left for him :D

Anyone who didn't make the trip up you missed a good one!

Goff's article in the Wash Post says that Gomez drove up to the game with his family, seperate from the team. And the team didnt even know he was going to be there.

    Classic.

Did anyone from Barra or SE know about this before the game?

Gomez playing drums the entire second half was priceless. His little kid was really cute, too. Best road trip ever (flat tire aside).

    AAARRRRRRRRG..

Yes it was a classic moment with Gomez banging and chanting as some Metro fans decided to support D.C. during the 2nd half!

Yeah, when I saw Gomez in the stands tonight I immediately thought of that River Plate game I saw on FSC where Cavenaghi was back home during the Russian offseason and cheering with all the fans. Argentines know how to support their team, that's for sure.

I hope someone had a beer left for Nicky because's he owed some good beer karma- I talked to him for a while at Bloktoberfest in Arlington last weekend and he gave me one of his leftover beer tickets.

Christian came with his family and was sitting several rows above us first half and watching the game (he walked through first and said hi to everyone tho). In second half he came down and helped with drum :D

Road games is always where most fun is at, remember that :)

-keg on our bus made 5 hours go in a flash
    -4:1 game after 0:1 half
    -Gomito on drum
    -flat tire
-Local guy and his family feeding whole Barra bus with grilled food after the game for 2 hours till our tire was fixed...
-Barra team getting manhandled by bunch of little girls in soccer, playing on deserted Meadowlands parking lot at 12am, they're lucky I had no space on camera card to shoot that emeberassment :D

Lucky I didn't hang other 6 upside down, I was bit beered up at that point. Now that i think i didn't even check which way i was hanging that one, I might have been pissed at security for making us shuffl banners so that their stupid cardboard metro sign shows.

Absolutely, friggin beautiful. Couldn't believe what I saw at first. Can't get my family to watch a game with me but they came to see Gomito in the stands with the fans. Love those ventilators. :D
