    Hi,

Does anyone know who Rangers scout in France is or what McLeish's little obsession with French/French based players?

There have been Prso, Boumsong, Rodriguez, Hemdani who have come directly from France and Bernard, Vignal, Bonnissel who have come indirectly from France.

Is there a scout out there helping them out with all these deals? It seems an interesting trend but I can't see any obvious link.

Cheers for any help on this

Because most of them are good players.

Even when McLeish was at Hibs he liked bringing players in from the French league. What a player Franck Sauzee was!

It's a little reported fact that McLeish is addicted to foie gras. For every player he buys from the French league, the French Football Federation send him a block of grade-A Foie Gras d'Oie along with a case of Chardonnay.

    /has no idea

Well there are several reasons why his royal dopenest recruits from France. The first being he still thinks the French have a pool of talent that can be exploited. Obviously he is playing golf instead of watching qualifers, U21's and U17's. Second is he is bringing in mediocre players from clubs that have been Lyon's bit@#s for the last several years. Finanly McLeish wants to be seen as a manager who is bringing in world class talent to a club with a tight budget, the only problem is that none of the before mentioned players is world class with possiably Prso when the mood suits him. Hope this clarfies things a bit.

Comin the Bhoys I smell a treable in the air

It's a market Eck knows well. And, as someone said they're mostly good players - who have come relatively cheap as well.

Good cheap players will only get you SPL throphies at best.

Don't forget Marc Libbra, who eventually went to Norwich to wash out--is he at Livi now? Anyway, Toulouse (I think) wanted a million for him, which is much more than he was worth. Sauzee was the best.

We're not expecting our team to do much in Europe anyway just now, with the debt and all. The main thing is competing in the SPL, and get rid of the debt.

Prso is a nice player. He scored huge goals for Monaco and I was sad to see him leave. If I remember correctly the president of the club said something like he didnt see justifiying paying him what he was asking for because of his age. Boumsong is crap. Just ask the France forum what they think of him. Rodriguez is a nice player but he probably left Monaco so he could get more playing time. Hemdani is average at best.

Prso is one of those strange players who looks crap most the time but can still score good goals. On his day he is a class player.

Rodriguez has had a very shaky start to his Rangers career, same goes for Fan-Fan who has been in and out the team. Hemdani hasn't played yet, he says he's injured, the Rangers physios say he's ok (saw that one coming a mile off). Boumsong was decent but played like a forward in defence.

The Rangers physios don't say Hemdani's OK.

Boumsong? Looks like a great bit of business by Rangers.

Yeah, fair enough that was just a rumour. What I heard was that the physios said he was fit enough to play again but Hemdani said he didn't feel right when he was running.

Quite a good article. One thing that jumped out at me, though: Aberdeen isn't in the Highlands. It's traditionally referred to as a Grampian city (at the eastern fringe of the Grampian mountains), and used to lie in the Grampian region before regions were done away with. It's currently in the district of Aberdeen City, surrounded entirely by Aberdeenshire.

    As for the article itself...

Alarm bells ringing, Rangers fans? Surely Pierre-Fanfan, useless player, was not a McLeish signing?
