Anyone else waiting to see a really oddball pick late in the draft a la LA's pick of Cory Gibbs last year? I think it'd be kind of funny for someone in the sixth round to say, "yeah, we'll take that Hejduk guy" and completely circumvent the allocation process.
Beau, can they do that?? Also, what's the over/under that KC will go the whole draft without making a selection??? Gees, I'd rather have them drafted Lewis from Clemson (the defender) than Conrad. Then again, they probably know more than I do.
Why would San Jose trade the sixteenth pick for Mullan, but then go on to draft Levesque? This draft makes no sense at all.
There's surely some rule against picking someone like Hejduk, though you have to wonder why someone could pick Gibbs when he's quite plainly on the roster at St. Pauli. I'm also wondering if we'll see some retreads in the late rounds. Check back through draft history, and you'll see the same guys drafted two or three times. Darren Sawatzky, anyone? Re: KC -- if I'm reading their roster correctly at MLSNET, they're actually over their roster limit. They'd need a P40 or DP.
rumor on the 3rddegree chat room was lewis had blown out his acl two days ago in portugal. have no idea if this is true.
Colorado trades a 3rd round pick in 2004 and the 8th pick in the 5th round in this draft to get the spot ahead of thier first pick in the draft? This Jason Cole better be impressive if he couldn't wait one spot...
