Wow - am I too early for this? Now there is a post-game fight, as Tiboni is going ballistic!

    Babies.

    Hilarious. Absolutely comical. Scoreline, ********.

Anyway, let's call this the day we all saw David Arvizu introduce himself to the world. Great stuff.

3-1 victory to the US, putting us three points clear of second place in our group with one to play. A tie or win guarantees us first place.

On a side note, the US was vastly out-performed by the Italians in the card accumulation category-- 1-0 in reds and 6-1 in yellows. Bunch of dirty bastards.

    U17WC: USA vs Italy (R)

3-1 Good guys and should have been much much worse.

A disallowed goal for God only knows what reason and Arvizu doing his best Taylor Twellman impression (by not capitalizing on scoring goals) but he was the best player on the field today.

Man, someone must have flicked a switch because this was clearly not the same team that took the field against North Korea on Saturday.

    Gotta love that Italian discipline.

    Great game by the USA.

Arvizu was unbelievable beating Italy to every ball. Zimmerman was stong again.

Very good job keeping our composure despite the cheap fouls of the other other team. Italy was disgraceful and not even that talented. I hope North Korea can send them home.

Excellent win and not as unexpected as some may have thought. Italy were pvssies and the USA was beating them soundly before the red card. Excellent.

The intalian players are just a bunch of thugz. That ***hole that stared the fight at the end better be suspended. What a joke. Have you ever seen a team with the stature of Italy get beat down as bad as they did and then act like ****s? It looked like a CONCACAF qaulifier. GREAT GAME USA. way to kick the Italians in the ***!

agreed. i'm pleased that the usa played it cool and didn't pick up any unnecessary yellows or suspensions. i think the only yellow card we picked up by arivisu for kicking the ball after the whistle...

I thought it interesting that one truculent Italian player was taunting the US supporters by making a number of "basketball free throw" motions with his arms. The rest of the world, including the Itlalians will learn that soccer in the USA is here to stay.....

Cross post from the in-game thread...

I want to extend my congratulations to the U17 team on the win and commend the team on keeping their cool. I know it was not easy. Italy embarrassed themselves not because the got beat but due to the fact that they showed their ass over and over again. The United States dominated one of the best footling nations in the world. It could have easily been four or five to nil. A star was born today in David Arvizu. A great job and a special thanks for showing class in skill and in attitude.

without a doubt it describes this game, but maybee we should rip this team some more so they can continue to play better and better. ;)

To echo a post in the other forum, the most impressive aspect of our performance today was the sportsmanship and cool headed-ness we displayed to the Italians. The kids acted like professionals.

Great game, boys. Hopefully, Arvizu comes back next time starving for those goals he deserves.

The boys showed skill, smarts and heart. Can't ask for more.

The odd man out ironically seems to be Kirk. He looks out of shape. Is this kid not fully fit?

Anyways, hats off to all the boys, particularly Zimmerman and Arvizu, both pure class, in different ways.

Oh, and that play where Arvizu got yellow-carded was sweet. Soroka, you got some moves. Spins around two defenders, splices a through ball to Arvizu, who also whips out the spin move on the 'keeper, only to pick up the card for continuing to play after the off-side whistle.

How you give a kid a yellow for that is beyond me.
