Hey, Thunder fan here. I know you've all got another match before the semifinal, (actually so do we, but it's meaningless) and I was wondering what the team news is in LA? How do you think you guys will come out? Last year Hartman was suited up for field play; I doubt that will happen again, but we've seen backup keepers through most of the cup. Will we see Cronin? Several of us are making the trip down. I wish I were one of them, but I have another trip to save for.
We put out Donovan for a half of the one Open Cup match he was available for, but we've had Cronin in goal, IIRC, for the matches. I think Sampson wants to win this more than last year, so you may see a lot of the first team. We've had word that the match will be in our lil stadium, so that should be purty. Hopefully the sod will have settled by then. We want revenge for last year, plus, we want to win and stop the Thunder's giant-killing streak.
Sampson wants this real bad. I think we'll see the full first team- no scrubs unless we're hit with the injury bug.
Sampson will put out a full team, in fact I think he's going to rest all the regular starters this Saturday and save them for Wednesday. Give up on the MLS Cup and focus on the Open Cup. Hey you guys wouldn't be interested in a trade? Stevie for Buzz? We could throw in an award winning general manager as a bonus? Let us know.....
....Plus two free players, a brazilian wizard called Naldon't, I mean Naldo, and a Guatemalan international called Pandon't, I mean Pando(Damn force of habit).
Whilst I agree that our focus will be on the Open Cup, there's too much at stake w/ the Colo Colo Rado game. If we win, we put 7 pts btw us and them, so even if they were to win the 2 extra games they have to play still, they cannot catch us that way. If we lose, they are 1 pt. behind w/ 2 extra games. And we play at KC the following Saturday. not good...
get real... we can't beat them even w/ our best team. should focus on games we CAN win.. say can we switch the thunder w/ DC or Chivas?
Uh....I really don't think we are going to pull everyone for Saturday and focus on Wednesday....although it's not a bad idea.
First time to California and obviously the HDC. Neutral Fire fan looking to watch a good game and check out the best looking SSS in the US (until Bridgeview is done at least). The best tickets are $25, should I go for those or go cheap? What kind of crowd is expected? Ideally I would like to buy cheap tickets and wander around the grounds. Thanks Zak
Zak, get the cheapest seats (there is no bad seat) and wander. Go sit with the Riot Squad for a half, or even behind the goals. Great to hear that we'll be hosting the final!
Hi, all, it's been a while. Got this info: The Los Angeles Galaxy continue to aid Hurricane Katrina relief efforts by collecting donations this Saturday, September 10, against the Colorado Rapids at The Home Depot Center on the campus of Cal State University, Dominguez Hills. Fans who make a donation of ten dollars ($10) or more to the relief effort of Hurricane Katrina will receive two (2) free tickets to the Galaxy’s U.S. Open Cup Semifinal match against the Minnesota Thunder on Wednesday, September 14. Donations can be made beginning on Saturday at the game at the Galaxy Foundation booth and will continue through Tuesday, September 13 at the front desk of the Home Depot Center. It's for a good cause - and it's a pretty good deal. . .
For season ticket holders, $10 is the price for any seat. Those who are not, then $25 for sideline, $10 gets you endline. Or you could use of offer Femfa posted, that offer just came out. No matter what the price, just be there and support the team.
I saw somewhere that the Minnesota match in LA was going to be on Gol TV but now I can't find that info and it's not on my TV listings.. Was it ever really planned or was the broadcast canceled?
Going on past Open Cup history I would guess no but perhaps the promotion with the free tickets for donations will help some.. Maybe 1,500 extra because of it.. Hard to guess..
I think official attendance will depend if this counts as a season ticket bonus game or not. And I don't think it does. So I expect a sub 10k crowd.
With the donation deal, it seems that you can get two tickets for 5 dollars each. (10 dollar donation = two tickets.) That's cheaper than the season ticket holder discount. So I'm guessing 12 K in attendance. The one catch though is that the donation for tickets exchange has to be made at the front desk by this Tuesday.
So any word on where this will be--the little stadium? I want to finally sit with the Riot Squad--is there any assigned seating if it's in the smaller stadium, or is it all GA?
It's going to be in the main stadium. I was just joking by calling it "our little stadium" People work their way in to the LARS section a lot. They probably won't mind. If you want to be official, it's section 138, I think.
