I was as upset as anyone about the hurricane. I've got close friends and professional acquaintances in N.O. and have spent many happy times there, which may never be the same. And as the hurricane was tearing apart the most romantic and singular city in the U.S., all I could think of was.... Why couldn't Katrina have hit San Jose????
