I don't know Jack Cafferty's (CNN) outlaook/bias, but he's ripping the gvt. a new one. He actually used the word "hell" which I know is no big deal, but when's the last time you saw a newsman use it? He's saying it's the worst response to a disaster he's ever seen, he's quoting a Manchester Union-Leader editorial ripping Bush, he's asking "why aren't they dropping sandwiches and water to the Superdome?" I mean, he's really emotional. So I think Bush probably has a problem. Because over the next few days and weeks, the story of the levee funding cuts, the re-politicization of FEMA, all that stuff, is gonna get raised, and the Bushies aren't going to be able to brush them off. Oh...and a sniper is shooting at people getting evacuated from a hospital. WTF???
We have Cafferty figured... Jack practices being constipated for three hours just before each show... then he and Wolf get together for a mutual tight-butt grimace, then the show starts: The Situation Room! That way, jack cafferty always appears a tight wad! He is! After the show Jack lets loose of course...
The real question is what is the man in charge of the richest government in the world and the strongest military in the history of the world doing to save people dying 5 days later in New Orleans. A: not nearly enough.
Yikes... if it's the people from over there who are pissed, i wouldn't want to argue with them.... btw the audio of the W interview can be found here... Click on audio link under Bush's picture
This isn't directed at anyone specifically: I think we should come together at times like this instead of engaging in partisan bickering. There will be plenty of time to point fingers later on. Right now we've got to focus on saving people.
You took the words right out of my mouth. I don't care what this means politically for anyone right now. There's people dying right now. I'm thinking about that a whole lot more right now than W's career.
Here's a thought. How about the people who don't want to talk about what a colossal fvck up Bush has made of this disaster stay out of this thread?
With all due repect, Ben, you can blow me. We tried that ******** after 9/11, and nobody was held accountable for THAT. Hell, people got medals for f'ing up.
Dave, please donate your crystal ball and then share your hindsight expertise to everyone else on the boards, and then to the politicians. Thanking you in advance.
I agree with you partly, but c'mon. There are right things to do, and wrong thigns to do. 200 Million for a bridge to nowhere in Alaska is the wrong thing to do.
I was in Central America when Hurricane Mitch hit in 1998. It killed 30,000 people. Flooded the capital of Honduras like New Orleans. I volunteered in relief efforts there for two weeks. We're talking about a poor, uneducated populace. There was no social breakdown. Americans are showing just how helplessly dependent on law and order we are.
Well, you know that Ian and ITN wouldn't want to talk about anything colossal about Bush on fvck up. So are you trying to suppress different opinion here?
Over 100 hours after it hit and the City of New Orleans in a state of chaos and anarchy, people dying in the streets, women getting raped, fights, shootings, WTF is this Iraq? Where the Fvck is the Federal Gov't.? The FEMA Director, just stated he didn't know there are thousands of victims at the Convention Center with no food or water. If the news media can get in less then 24 hours after this thing started, we can certainly get more military people in. Fvck you Bush! So much of our money and resources being wasted in Iraq, while Americans at home suffer and die, its really a shame. What's next, telling the Hurricane victims to "Stay the coarse."
I think it's a shame that everything has become so politicized. The last thing I'm thinking about is "what does it mean for Dubya." Superdave raises a legitimate point, but it's still a shame to feel the need to point fingers at the same time others are literally dying! Furthermore, Mike, you've become increasingly bitter over the past few years. Republicans aren't going to stay in power forever.
Chertoff just said we were caught off guard because this was actually a "double disaster": a hurricane AND a flood. *head explodes*
