Mention of the German flag got me thinking... As soon as the match hits the 90th minute and meanders into injury time, since we'll be all over our southern neighbors at that time by a resounding 3-nil, we should begin a "Germany Here We Come!" chant. Or "Deutschland Oh Six." Or...?
You know last year, went DCU won the semi-finals, we changed one of our chants: Oh... Let's Go United... United, United.... Lets Go United... To: Oooooh... We're going LA! To LA... To LA... We're going to LA... So we can use that for Germany... Oooooh... We're going Germany! Germany... Germany... We're going to Germany... It goes along with a nice bombo beat... (which we're bringing )
Need some help from a local: I'm in training for a triathlon (really a quadathlon of running, biking, swimming, and drinking) and am looking for a lap pool in Columbus of preferably 25 yrds or longer (most lap pools are 25 yrds) so I can get in at least in one water session on an extended vacation away from my normal pool. I'm staying downtown at the Renaissance Hotel (they have a pool but it's probably a typical family splash pool) but would certainly travel if there is nothing downtown. Either a health club, local YMCA, or community pool will do -- as long as they accept a per day membership, or grant a free week trial . Any help would be appreciated. Go US! Also, I have an extra Sam's Army ticket to unload to a US Supporter at the tailgate. Must be wearing a US jersey, red, face paint, have a US flag draped around your shoulders, or be an otherwise obvious US Supporter.
No offense but the "Germany" chants are kind of stupid against Mexico. Pretty much no matter what the outcome is, we are BOTH going to Germany... So if we start chanting: Oooooh... We're going Germany! Germany... Germany... We're going to Germany... The Mexicans can just chant "we are too!"
The suggestion of chanting Germany Here We Come had little to do with the Mexican team. It was all about us, as in the US, as in celebrating our milestone. In fact, you can leave Mexico out of any sentence from there on out.
Any chance anyone will have a TV set-up where myself, Flip, and a few others can catch at least part of the BC-BYU game at 3:30?? (I believe it's on ABC) You will be well rewarded in the form of cold alcoholic beverages...
OK, forgive me. I just have to post. This is going to be my first USMNT cap, and I keep taking the tickets out of my planner and gazing dreamily at them, and I'm drooling on myself reading this and the other threads. MAN, I can't wait until Saturday!!!!! My 11 year old son and I are driving up from southeast Missouri VERY early Saturday morning (like, we'll hit the road before the sun comes up.) Any chance we'll be able to catch the players in the hotel lobby for some autographs? If anyone knows where the team is staying, please let me know - either PM or email mngrover@juno.com. I got Jason Kreis and Clint Mathis's autographs in the SLC airport a couple months ago and need to add to my collection. I hope my posts are sufficient to prove my US credentials. We are bringing two other newbies with us, my friend in Columbus and his dad. Already told them to wear red! I'll have my Missouri state flag around my neck like a cape (which is conveniently red, white, and blue) and my Uncle Sam stovepipe hat... How can I get a VIP parking pass that day? Possible at all? Is the VIP lot the only paved lot?
You might be out of luck. Our local ABC affiliate is set to show Northern Illinois @ Michigan at 3:30 on ABC.
(614) 447-2739 is the Crew FO. They might have a few more, but they were extremely limited to begin with. There's 2 VIP lots (both paved), and either one will suffice. I believe they were $15.
You cannot pick up a VIP pass on the day of the game. Unless of course you wanna pay $12 bucks to get in the parking lot and access the box office where they sell them -- then pay an additional $15 for the VIP pass.
Ouch, that's a bit too steep. I guess I'll just hope the general lots will have dried out my Saturday and Katrina is long gone.
If you are coming in Friday night, we'll have limited passes available at the bar for sale. The lots are a mess today, I drove by -- lots of puddles and the worst of the rains from Katrina are supposed to be tomorrow. Hopefully the sunny weather on Thursday and Friday will dry a majority of the grass lots out.

I'll be flying solo in C-bus until some of the San Jose crowd gets in, anyone interested in hitting some morning tailgates (like from 10-12) at OSU with me?? I can't make it to the game but want to soak in at least some of the atmosphere.
I found out my soccer game is at 1, so we are trying to leave by 315 and get there by 630ish. sucks doesnt it. anyway so ill get there, park, and probably go in. We just spray painted USA on a mattress cover, so Look for me and feel free to say hi
Re: Everything you need to know for Columbus 9/3 and more..... I'll be sporting the SJ scarf along with my US one
Re: Everything you need to know for Columbus 9/3 and more..... This is your first "cap", so i'll give you slack, but it's a general practice that club gear stay at home during the game. The parties are one thing, but club gear at the game itself is generally frowned upon.
Re: Everything you need to know for Columbus 9/3 and more..... it's not my first "cap" thank you very much and I'll bring what I please I don't care if I'm "frowned upon"... you'll all be drunk anyways!
Re: Everything you need to know for Columbus 9/3 and more..... Nice attitude Please, keep the club stuff to the parties.
Re: Everything you need to know for Columbus 9/3 and more..... fine fine, don't get your panties in a bunch
