As if I needed any proof that I'd married the perfect woman, my wife (who also treated me to a weekend in Manchester and Cardiff two years ago) sprung a surprise trip to London on me this morning to celebrate our first anniversary (note to self: upgrade gift from thoughtful card).

All things being equal, I'd love to catch a Fulham match while there. I have a great friend in Boston who's supported the Whites since Kevin Keegan days, the Cottage has always appealed to me, and I'd enjoy seeing Brian McBride playing for club once instead of country.

So what's the collective wisdom on getting tickets?

There are plenty of tickets still available, but if I were you, I would call the ticket offices at Fulham ASAP to get a pair reserved for you to pick up on Saturday. Here is the number to the ticket office:

    0870 442 1234

Or you can perhaps book them online:

    http://www.wayahead.com/fulham/event.asp?name=fulham+home+game&e|promoter=1192&orderby=date&filler1=fulhamfc

    I hope this helps.

Cheers! My Fulham pal here suggested the same thing but wasn't as confident that tickets would available at large just yet. Will give them a call first thing tomorrow a.m.

Any advice on which stand or end I should be looking for?

Mike is the Godfather of Fulham...you can get into the classiest of West London bars by simply uttering his name.

Thanks for the replies one and all! Yes, Mike, I got tickets via the link ChicagoTom posted earlier. Wound up in the first row of the Riverside Stand right by the corner flag in the end Fulham were attacking in the first half (Block Z, Row AA). Not what I would have looked for in an ideal world, but my wife and I had a unique up-close look at the Scouse support. This was our second English match together - the first being United v. Liverpool in the League Cup Final a couple of years ago in Cardiff.

Craven Cottage is a great place, and the neighborhood was nice enough to leave my wife wondering why I'd ever chosen to support Man United years ago. The walk through Bishop's Park was somehow more to her liking than the stroll down Sir Matt Busby Way. Go figure. We had a blast, and I would gladly go back and cough up another thirty pounds to FFC some other time. My birthday this year falls on West Ham at Old Trafford, however, so that's one weekend already spoken for.

    Thoughts on the match itself:

    1. It was great to see McBride score a nice goal, albeit from the other end of the pitch, and it was really nice to see how well received he was (other than scoring) by the Everton crowd.
    2. Steed's first touch was either off or really isn't as good as it looks on TV.
    3. Beyond his work up front, which any fan of the USNT knows well, McBride busted his a$$ in the second half dropping back to help his teammates. No wonder they seem to love the guy.
    4. Fulham's back line is in desperate need of leadership. Some more skill would help, too, but they seemed genuinely rudderless and not merely without talent. This must drive Coleman nuts, as it's my sense that he was known as a leader in his playing days.
    5. Don't know if you could see it on FSC, but late in the match, Everton took a shot that bounced off the sign boards and up on top of the netting. In a classic bit of time wasting (or genuine confusion, depending on one's point of view), Warner looked over at the linesman directly in front of us asking "Where'd it go?" The Everton supporters loved this.
    6. C. Jensen is a nice player. Could have done more, like most of the team, but he's a nice player.
    7. Fulham have way too much quality in the midfield to play the way they did Saturday (and, for that matter, the way they did against Arsenal mid-week).

Thanks again, and I hope to see Fulham moving from strength to strength.
