Cheer up. The kane nui from Ewa Beach are gonna win the LL World Series! For anyone interested, there is a thread in the Feedback & Announcements forum about the interface change: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236136&page=1&pp=20. Seems like not everything was thought through entirely, such as what happens to text hidden in [ RESULT ] tags when it's quoted (see the linked thread for more info...).
Right? That is the scariest picture ever. And ooh speaking of Lost. I'm on the Lost DVD! I'm a big ole geek and went to comic con last year where they premiered the pilot...so in the footage on the DVD where they are talking about comic con, you can see me waving like a, well like a big ole geek! I took screencaps of it and everything. Again, geeky. But yeah the colors. About that.
Not to be a buzzkill to the conversation, but a friend has asked me to pass this to every board I frequent. If you have seen the movie "Sleepover" or the tv shows Gilmore Girls or Charmed, she may already look familiar. This is not some internet hoax that gets forwarded to everyone's email. This girl really IS missing. She is a 16-year-old actress who was actually up for a role in a project that my pal, Bonnie, is casting called "Teenage Dirtbag" 16-year-old actress Desariee "Scout Taylor-" Compton is missing. She's been missing since August 12, 2005, from the Apple Valley, CA area. Scout's family is asking everyone not to speculate on why she is missing, but to concentrate on helping to find her. Anyone having information should contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678 (1-800-THE-LOST). Please spread the word, let's bring Scout home. Printable poster (which according to Bonnie, most printing places will offer to reproduce for free): http://tinypic.com/ay7iuw.jpg Help find Scout Here is also a picture of her as a blonde: http://www.missingkids.com/missingk...NCMC&seqNum=1&caseLang=en_US&searchLang=en_US
Send your best wishes to na keiki o ka aina. http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2005/Aug/24/sp/littleleague.php Read some of the messages of support...you'll be amazed at how far and wide the support for the kids from Ewa Beach comes.
Broke da mouf. L&L is pretty good, too. It's a chain from the islands that is spreading like wildfire over here. Also, Da Kitchen in Mountain View (near the Century Theaters) is good, and gives a LOT of food for your money. Now I want plate lunch, and all I've got is chicken soup.
There's a new Hawaiian grill going in on Tully road just west of 101. It just posted "coming soon" signs this week. It's not a "name brand" so it will be interesting to see how this one goes.
http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Movies/08/25/life.actress.reut/index.html LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Teen actress Scout Taylor-Compton, who disappeared from her home more than two weeks ago, has been found at a friend's house, police said on Thursday. Taylor-Compton, 16, star of the 2004 teen comedy "Sleepover," was last seen at her home in the Southern California community of Apple Valley on August 12 and was considered a runaway. "We received a tip from the Apple Valley School Police that she was at a house in Apple Valley," San Bernardino County Sheriff's spokeswoman Robin Haynal said. "We sent a deputy over there, picked her up and took her to the station."
Beat me to the punch on that one. I've seen one personally that ended tragically. At least, it's good news.
RIP for Hawaiian musician Bart Bascone, who wrote the immortal Hawaiian novelty song "Who's the Lolo Who Stole My Pakalolo?" (quick Hawaiian language lesson...lolo is borrowed from the Spanish word loco...I think you can figure out the rest)
I just had a co-worker tell me "you're much cozier than a brick wall". I'm not quite sure how I should take that...
Watching the LL World Series. What a final!!! [result]Congrats Hawaii!!! What a comeback! 3 runs down in the bottom of the 6th (the final inning in LL), they came back to tie. They won it with a solo home run in the bottom of the 7th.[/result]
Who cares about "highlight to reveal"...EWA BEACH BABY!!!! The kids from West Oahu LL put on a comeback reminiscent of SJ 5:2 LA. They came back from an umpire's blown call in the 3rd inning that cost them 2 runs to tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd...then came back from 3 runs down with their backs to the wall in the bottom of the 6th to tie, before Michael Memea ended things with a walk-off homer in the 7th (the first extra-inning final since 1972, and only the second extra inning final in LLWS history). Y'all don't understand. These kids have already achieved life-long legend status in Hawaii. The names of Michael Memea and Vonn Fe`au and Alaka`i Agilpay and Kini Enos and "Bubbles" have already become an indelible part of Hawaii's sporting history. No matter what else they do in life, they will be celebrated as heroes in Hawaii forever. Boy have I had a good weekend! The Quakes beat LA...and the kids from Hawaii won the World Championship. That works for me!
