The FIFA 06 video game site launched last week at EA Sports and Arsenal appears in several of the preliminary screen caps. The game looks awesome. I think it's scheduled for release in October or November. Here is the Gunners wall DB10 deftly defending against Shrek. And, in a display of the game's authenticity, Shrek getting carded for verbally abusing a referee (I'm taking some creative license, there).
These are early development shots, so there are lots of things to be worked out before this thing hits stores. Notice that none of the Nike shoes are finalized, either (while the Adidas ones are). I imagine EA will work out the kinks before the release. The website has movies - this game looks SO much better than '05 and that was kickass. It seems to have the proper speed of football, and they've upgraded free kicks and the control scheme. I didn't see anything about being able to create a team, which is the only feature FIFA has needed for a long time.
I love the FIFA games...everyone always goes on about Winning Eleven, but until they get off there arses and acquire all of the official licenses and stadiums, I'm never going to seriously play that game.
I think that's subjective. I personally don't want to play a game where Arsenal is not Arsenal and they're not at Highbury. I personally don't want to play a game where La Liga and the Netherlands are the only official licensed leagues. No matter how great Konami has made the physics of Winning Eleven, FIFA has always had a leg up as far as presentation and providing an authentic football experience. Plus, this new FIFA 06 looks to stand toe-to-toe with Winning Eleven and I'm psyched for it.
I hope they change the career mode to where you have the option to start at whatever team you want. I hated the fact that I had to win at Hearts for three years before I could get to Arsenal, and by that time the roster was completely different.
When is the release date on the game? Im gonna be in the U.S til the 16th but wasnt sure whether it will be out then.
Patches, man, patches. They come out soon after the game is released. I still can't believe that people play FIFA. WE is so much better.
Why cant EA just buy Konami and have the WE people do the gameplay for FIFA while the EA people do the presentation. That way we would all be happy while sitting in a circle singing kumbuyah.
Because EA are delighted at spending buttons on a crap game and ripping off mindless sheep every season...
The problem is that the patches, etc. are for PC (I don't play XBox, so I don't know if it has patch capability). I'm a PS2 person and prefer gaming on consoles, so WE is what it is by the time it's released. Konami has always made great games, so I'm not knocking their abilities as developers, but EA's licenses are not exclusive, so why on the 9th iteration of the game (being released in fall), is there still no Premiership, Bundesliga or even MLS? They probably don't want to fork out the money, which is what it would take to put it on the same level as FIFA in presentation terms (and from all that Metal Gear money, you KNOW Konami ain't broke).
I agree with the ugly manc. WE has supperior gameplay, and that's what you buy a game for. If I wanted authenticity, I'll turn on the tele and watch a game.
because its not intended for this market... its always been a japanese game with the emphasis being placed on the J-League and of course only the more notable clubs from other leagues... spending money on licenses when they can spend guarantee excellent sales in their market is kinda silly. As for why they don't spend on it, ask EA why they only change their game engines every 6 years and make only slight tweaks to each game and make people pay for a game that's essentially a patch of the previous version? Its kinda funny hearing your opinion that you'd rather have the bells and whistles than realistic gameplay. Its kinda like, I'd rather score a pretty goal than win. There are just somethings that are fundamentally wrong with FIFA. The set pieces are horrid, if I aim a freekick/corner it can only possibly be hit by one players? that's down right stupid, it can't score even though its a pass? How do fk takers routinely, like magic place the ball in the top corner with every freekick and the keepers either let them all in (9/10), or stop them all (9/10) (based on difficulty). Why is it that you can score from 40yards out at angle a) and not from angle b)? Who was it that decided that no matter who you are running with, defenders will always match you stride for stride and actually gain on you? Why are the stupid dribble moves that people hardly ever do still in the game and soooo bloody effective? ie... once you time it correct, pretty much every one of the fancy moves results in an embarassed defender.
