My point was that he might make more of an impact for Brazil if he was made the focal point. With his strength, he can cope with several players trying to close him down (happens now anyway) plus it could give the other players more room to create. Obviously it doesn't really matter since we will never know unless it is attempted, but it's worth noting.

Which would require other players to play a reduced role and defer to him. Brazil has too much talent to let one player dictate so much play, and besides, Ronaldinho hasn't shown he can do that, wants to do that, or is capable of doing it.

The issue here is whether or not you'd have the same problem fitting Ronaldinho into a "dream team" as you would Riquelme. The answer is clearly no.

As it is a dream team, there are no problems fitting anyone into the side because you control all of the parameters.

Sigh. Dude, do you read? The comment was made that

That's what I responded to. There are MANY teams, therefore, that would be better served by not having Riquelme on them.

Ombak, and to a certain extent, Teso, seemed to understand it pretty well.

My response was: "The same could be argued about Ronaldinho and a rather long list of playmakers. It all depends on how you want your dream team to play." Therefore I actually agree with you on the Riquelme point. However, the discussion then moved on to focus on Ronaldinho. :D

    .................. Buffon

    Zanetti, Terry, Nesta, Zambrotta

    .................. Makelele
    C. Ronaldo..................... Robben
    ................ Ronaldinho

    .......... Ronaldo........... Henry

Problem with this team: no heading power up front. Maybe Sheva & Adriano instead of Ronaldo & Henry? But where should the crosses come from?

Here's a less big name team, but much more balanced: :D

    ............... Kahn

    Friedrich, Mertesacker, Woerns, Lahm

    .............. Hamann

    Schneider ................ Schweinsteiger

    .............. Ballack

    ......... Klose ......... Podolski

that's pretty good, although I'd most likely put in Deisler instead of Schneider, he's been in better form as of late.

    1. The thread didn't say select the 11 best players in the world. It said select your "dream" team.

    2. Its the same system that Barcelona play with. It works pretty damn well for them.

    3.

    1. I'm fully aware of what this thread is, but I am just noting that club bias appears to have influenced your player selection.

    2. They have the players to make that system work, you do not:

    • Riquelme and Ronaldinho will struggle in the same side
    • Henry plays from the left-wing, so will get in the way of other players
    • Therefore Henry cannot play as a lone striker, because you would have nothing upfront
    • Henry cannot head the ball, so why bother with Joaquin, Puyol and Zambrotta, since they have no-one to aim for.

    3.

Barcelona play a modified 4-3-3, which is actually more of a 4-2-3-1. Whatever I think of Suss's team, he's correct in this regard.

Here's another one - Ronaldinho and Riquelme would struggle to play together.
